A male rock ptarmigan (Lagopus muta) in winter plumage.
Ptarmigan is from Gaelic 'tarmachan' meaning "croaker". The p- was added when people mistakenly assumed it was a Greek word.

I think I have stumbled upon an AI narrated documentary series on Amazon. Flat narrator voice and HORRIBLE sound mixing. If I am wrong, then this is a weak sound mixing job and bland casting choice. Leaning more towards AI at the moment. I wish it was indicated or tagged somewhere.
