Shits getting real. Waffle house employees are trying to unionize. Why can we as a society not do what's morally and socially responsible and pay a livable wage. Not minimum wage. Not server wages. The amount needed for food shelter and Healthcare. It has not increased goods and services.

Another terrible tragedy has struck Northern Africa. Heavy rains have burst dams in Libya, sweeping whole neighborhoods to the sea and untold thousands to their deaths. This is heartbreaking to witness, and I implore the world community to come immediately to the aid of all those affected.

Having just spent a night in the hospital recovering from a voluntary surgery I've been thinking a lot about the power of compassion. Just a simple act of kindness and understanding a person does wonders for healing and connecting to one another. Try and practice a simple act of kindness every day.
