old man, survived cancer, wrote a book, still run a chainsaw.
Behave yourself!
my feed is now about 50% Eagles, which was good--a fun way to avoid the awfulness of Trump and Trumpers being corrupt and illegal.
but now the Eagles are as dispiriting and infuriating as Trumpland.
I need a fresh distraction

worrisome finding. A Boston University study finds a reduction in snowpack may slow forest growth, resulting in less carbon storage.
Not sure when people will not longer be able to deny the hotter climate and worrisome consequences, but we already see it.

Less Snow Makes Trees Absorb Less Carbon, According to New BU Study
Over a decade of data demonstrate that in a warming climate, less snowpack in New England could disrupt tree growth and carbon uptake

"Nurses should take over."

I believe Schlossberg is serious when she writes this. She is correct.

David Murphy's ( @highcheese.bsky.social) Inquirer column today is worth a look
www.inquirer.com/eagles/jalen...

He talks about wins but fails to discuss the importance of STATISTICS. wins=pffft. gaudy stats=now you'e talkin

Joe Burrow has stats. Hurts has wins. Who you gonna pick?
Jalen Hurts deserves criticism, but what are we arguing about? | David Murphy
Any time an offense plays the way the Eagles offense has for most of this season, the quarterback will help matters by playing better. Beyond that, there is little to say.

won't pay taxes, but will pay a bribe
Do you know who is paying for Trump’s ballroom?

Amazon
Google
Apple
Meta

And a bunch of other companies that coincidentally have business in front of the Trump Administration right now.

So are these companies getting special favors in return? I’m pressing for answers.

This is a good point
one of the reasons they're so mad at "no kings" is that they thought they were going to get a different kind of protest. they *want* the black bloc to be out there fighting with the cops. those are the images they've been trying to generate from "go." instead--

MAGA Rage at “No Kings” Boils Over—and It Quickly Backfires on Trump
As Trump allies smear the coming protests, a good writer on MAGA skewers the absurdity of these attacks on large swaths of Americans—and explains why our best recourse will be to turn out in force.

Every crisis is an opportunity. This is the moment for Dems on Capitol Hill to call a news conference and make clear: Not one dime to fund the federal government until Trump withdraws his unlawful orders and agrees not to send troops to occupy Democratic-run cities
The brave men and women who serve in our national guards must not be used as political props. This is a moment where every American must speak up and help stop this madness.
