West Wales wildlife and wilding. Rescue pointers and cats. Lefty.
I miss seeing the wildlife up close now the days are short and nights so long. Lovely to know they are still out there doing their thing.

Just two of the four swallow chicks made it. They fledged a couple of days ago. They spent most of yesterday perched on the telephone line outside being fed by their parents. Lots of flapping and testing of wings.

Not sure if these little darlings are the second or third brood this year. Hope they will be well and ready for the big migration flight. The swallows are already lining up on the telephone line along the track.

Have just taken a lovely juvenile sparrowhawk into the wood and laid it to rest on a mossy bank under a beech tree. It shot into the house through an open window and flew straight into the glass porch door. I hoped it might be just stunned - but no. Shocking and very sad.

The woods were alive with chiffchaff song this morning. Nothing yesterday - full on today. Spring is definitely here.

Breakfast 'chat'
Me: Turn round very slowly. There's a beautiful song thrush just outside the window.
Mr Riots turns slowly. Brief silence as he contemplates.
Me: Doesn't seem right that it's from the genus Turdus.
Mr Riots: Thrush isn't too great either.
Toast munching resumes.

Beautiful artwork from @sarahdesign.bsky.social. I'm off to take a look at her Etsy store...
I don't want to be on ghastly x anymore but it's where a lot of my sales come from so this post is a brazen request for shares to spread the word about my work on a kinder platform that isn't run by a dangerous megalomaniac!

In January 2021, during the third national lockdown, I pulled into this deserted pub car park to turn the van round and found a lamppost and a bin engaged in lively conversation while they thought no one was looking. Incredible.

Please help me! I’m on X because that’s where my paintings sell. I shift about 95% of my work there. If I could just get my followers up to the same level here, it would release me from the swamp. I live in the middle of nowhere so I rely on social media to share & show my work.

Surprised to see a pair of bullfinches flitting about the bushes along the path in the dunes on our beach walk this morning. Lovely rosy blush against the bright yellow gorse where they perched. Not the usual habitat we spot them in. And it's busy with people and dogs.

'December Walk, Newburgh' and 'December Kinross' - both painted in mixed media by Scottish artist, Christine Woodside,

This artist's (recent) paintings depict the surrounding countryside and views from her window where she lives in Fife.

Just lovely
