Two yrs ago, our local church session (PCUSA) accepted the challenge of a relationship with Comunidad Mesa Abierta, an open and affirming community with whom we share a place of worship. What a great time to learn, grow, and mature in our shared Christ-centered values. It was a privilege to preach.

Today, we received the news that the funds earmarked for the development of a community resilience center at our church were canceled by our "Christian president." After Hurricane Maria, we were very excited to develop a place like this. It's sad and frustrating.

I miss the days when you could go minutes, hours even, without thinking about what the President was doing.

Just a reminder: having a functional moral compass right now is going to make you feel bad all the time; don’t mistakenly hate yourself for that.

If Trump did THAT to a leader of a sovereign country, then we mortals can't expect anything constructive. This administration, just as St. Agustine said about arrogance, is inflamed in the sense of an infection, which is not greatness but sickness. There is a big difference. R

Jesus never called his followers to defend Christianity, a “Christian nation,” or even their Christian churches.

Jesus called them to defend the poor, the oppressed, and the hurting.

Stop manipulating Jesus for the benefit of a few. Get to feeding, healing, and peacemaking.

Our 124th Aniversary, Iglesia Presbiteriana de Puerto Nuevo, with my friend Rev. Chip Hardwick preaching, and with the visit if Jonathan Walton, Princeton Theological Board President. The while board was with us. In the blessings I called all the present pastros to be with us. Beautiful moment.
