The first photo I posted was also a white, but has steaks of light pink. Wer'e lucky we haven't encountered any beetles; but we did have to pull one shrub that was infested with aphids. It was planted too close to the building. We had very strong winds yesterday and the small shrubs lost all blooms.

Yes, but a different genus of hibiscus family. It's more cold-hardy than a tropical hibiscus shrub. There is one on our campus that is about 7 years old and it produces deep lavender blooms and is the shape of a tree. I also planted two other shades of pink and purple; but no photos.
