Trump DOJ official Harmeet Dhillon describes the crackdown on schools & speech in response to alleged antisemitism.

Minutes later, asked about Nick Fuentes, she says: “the antidote to speech that you don't like is more speech. It isn't shutting down speech.”

Assuming there’s actually an issue here, the solution is just to slightly increase scrutiny on ieps at rich schools. This will not happen. We’re much more likely to get a crack down on poor kids with ieps and rich kids just get more benefits.
"Rich kids are gaming disability accommodations to gain an unfair advantage" is actually very different from "America has an extra-time-on-tests problem" — and the author hasn't proved that either! Rich kids might just be more likely to be diagnosed.

the HORSES stuff is obviously ridiculous and depressing, but it is also worth asking ourselves: who has benefited from the "games are art" campaign? it has certainly not been the artgame makers, whose work continues to be shunned and dismissed as "not games"
holy fuck this is ridiculous, how can we claim games are art if art is this scary to our two primary distribution channels?
Yesterday, the Epic Games Store decided at the last minute not to distribute the game, after having previously approved a release build. HORSES is otherwise now available on GOG, Itch, and Humble for $4.99. www.horses.wtf

I worked at a university where the five highest paid employees were the men’s basketball coach, the former men’s basketball coach who was fired, the former men’s basketball coach who was fired before that one, the former president who had been fired, and the current president. In that order.
This year, universities are giving $228 million to football coaches who failed at coaching football so that they won't coach football anymore.

If you are married to a US spouse, your temporary visa (usually for 3 months) will lapse before your case is processed. The government allowed you could stay in the US while awaiting case processing. Now the Trump admin is saying that is a visa overstay and arresting the spouses.

I knew it was going to be a grad student or an adjunct. And because grad students and adjuncts are cheap and easy to replace, they're the front line in the student-as-customer model of higher ed. Unhappy customer? Sacrifice a lowly TA or adjunct, problem solved.

Unions now. Unions forever.

One of the reasons I expect Reform to go worse in the UK than Trumpism is going in the US is that I think the UK has weaker civic society institutions. Our churches and universities are less rich, powerful, or inclined to resist, our media more compliant and uniform, our unions just as desiccated.
This is the most alarming story I’ve read today. Giving up the fight before it’s started

I think we can safely say that the Leavitt's brother called ICE on his ex, the mother of his child, and I have to say: I have no desire to respect, find common ground or share the country with these monsters.
“After Ferreira was detained, Dos Santos Rodrigues said Michael Leavitt Sr. and his father, Bob Leavitt, reached out to her.”

“‘They just kept saying, ‘Tell her to self-deport,’” she recalled. “Self-deport to where? Brazil is not her home.’” www.bostonglobe.com/2025/11/26/m...
