Just a reminder on this #TaxDay only 1 in 4 eligible people receive housing assistance. The federal housing budget is 1% of federal spending and is dwarfed by housing subsidies and tax credits to the wealthy.

Taxes filed. Doing my part so the government can gut itself (except the cops and military), scrap protections, and shovel money to billionaires. Love this cool, normal system.

Big win for Bronx tenants: after 10+ years of organizing, the City seized their slumlord’s building—the first time in 7 years. Now it’s on track for permanent affordable housing. Great reporting by @davidfbrand.bsky.social / @gothamist.com.

Overall revenue up 8% from last year, factoring inflation. Meanwhile, tenants continue to get hit with annual rent hikes between 3-5%, on top of inflation. We’re long overdue for a rent freeze.
Report: Revenue for rent-stabilized building landlords increases across city

Hi everyone! I’m now a visiting fellow @nycfuture.bsky.social and looking to talk to folks about affordable housing for artists. I’ve assembled a list of housing policy/land use experts but I’d love to talk to anyone who’s worked on these kinds projects before!

Few studies capture the brutality of NYC’s housing crisis better than this one: back in the day, countless working-class people benefited from New York’s wage premium. But, now, that same wage premium gets sucked into the black hole of our self-made housing shortage. Tragic.

If your first reaction to a deeply affordable apartment is "they don’t deserve it," I hope you never face the systemic violence of housing insecurity. But you should ask yourself why you’re so comfortable with that violence displacing others.

Proud to stand with Ms. Henderson in her fight to keep her rent-controlled home of 32 years. Family isn’t just legal paperwork. Landlords exploit loopholes to erase affordability & displace tenants.

Glad to co-counsel with @lamort.bsky.social. Thanks to @gothamist.com for the great reporting.

I don't think de blasio could've dreamt a better historical revision narrative. dime-a-dozen corrupt cop-landlord egomaniac descending swiftly into full-blown maga slimeball. makes de blaz look like a leftist patron saint.
It's such a relief to know that the mayor is spending every waking moment looking out for the people of New York.
