We are part of a national movement dedicated to build a culture of welcome for people seeking sanctuary in the UK. Our aim is to create a network of people and organisations across the city, united in making our city more welcoming, open and fair for all.

Quick reminder: the Prime Minister knows exactly what the real problems in our asylum system are, and how to fix them.

Process claims quicker and let people get on with their lives.

Here's what he said before he became PM - let's remind him of what he seems to have forgotten:

Asylum is about protecting people. But the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Act, which received royal assent this week, treats asylum as a border security issue. It continues the trend of criminalising people seeking sanctuary. It builds walls against refugees. We need something different.

Today is the 4th anniversary of the worst ever tragedy in the Channel.

At least 27 men, women & children drowned in the freezing water, & 4 more have never been found.

Since then, neither we nor the French have done a thing to offer people in this situation with real solutions.

🚨 We are deeply concerned by the announcement made this afternoon by the Home Secretary with regards to routes to settlement. Making people who have been granted refugee status wait for up to 20 years before they can settle indefinitely in this country is both cruel and counter-intuitive.

Demanding people prove a 'contribution' by volunteering ignores the incredible community work already done by migrants - especially people seeking asylum, who give up hours of their time for free while banned from work.

Most families will do anything to be together if they've been separated. No Government can change that.
The only choice the Government has is whether to give families a safe path to reuniting, or force children to risk their lives in the Channel.
