I’m sick of sharing this link so help me bury the NIMBY opposition to cute neighbourhood shops! They just put a petition with a measly 209 signatures into the record to kill—not modify, kill—this small step towards maybe having corner stores again

Let’s tell them what we want: c.org/fYSGWfvYJv

Classic conservative response: 'The only role of the government is to punish immoral people. If I get punished, it is an attack on my very essence as a person!'

Like no dude, you are being punished to remind you to follow a rule that you are ignoring. There is no moral judgment attached.

This pod misses the mark talking about free busses. While discussing increased ridership not correlating with reduced car trips, they neglect how important new trip generation is.

There's a $10 weekly class across town, but it's $16.50 including bus fare. Transit fares suppress economic activity.

The #CBC has an Ombudsman who is in charge of mediating complaints that listeners have with the editorial teams response to complaints. They write reports on if the editorial team violated the CBCs standards and practices.

Historically the office generated ~60 reports a year. 2025 has seen 3 so far

Fletcher is arguing that the agreed upon plan for a bike lane needs to be changed, since it's getting rid of 48 parking spots, instead of the 30 originally projected.

She's willing to risk people's lives for 18 parking spaces.

Luddites weren't anti-tech.

They were against technology being used by the capitalist class to capture wealth at the expense of the worker.

I am a Luddite, and a tech enthusiast. They're not in opposition. I want technology that makes MY life better, not that sells my life piecemeal to corps.
I hate crypto, I hate online gambling, I hate AI, I hate pay-later, I hate subscription models, I hate the gig economy, I hate ring cameras, I hate drones, I hate self checkout.

I don't want to come off as a luddite but capitalism's hold on tech sucks.

Putin would have invaded no matter what group the US backed in the Euromaidan coup to oust his puppet and install a western friendly regime.

But the US backed Azov et al., because they generally prefer arming right wing extremists as proxy forces. (see: Afghani Mujahideen, Contras, Syngman Rhee)

"But boycotting American goods puts pressure on Trump to help our capitalists out, which will trickle down to everyone."

Sure, but if i'm trying to pressure politicians, it seems more productive to pressure Canadian ones.

Boycotting Galen Weston Jr. seems a lot more productive if you ask me.

"Don't buy American! They implemented tariffs that hurt our capitalist class! Buy Canadian instead, support our capitalists!"

As much as I dislike Donald Trump, i'm really not feeling like doing the Irvings any favours.

This "Buy Canadian" thing...

You do realize we hardly make anything here?

Our main industries are money laundering and real estate fraud.

Toronto's YIMBY group is super happy that midwives can now be built in thin lines along car dependent infrastructure.

The ocean of SFH surrounding the subway lines will continue unabated. The 'avenues' plan is a refusal to build walkable neighborhoods.
Toronto is making LONG overdue updates to its Avenues Policies to make it easier to build midrises!

It's also adding new Avenues for the first time in decades. We've made it easy to voice your support to the Planning & Housing Committee at the link below:

The most frustrating thing about living in Toronto is the sole method of densification is 'What if Neom, but with single family homes instead of a desert, and massive car infrastructure running right down the middle of the line?'

We only ever build housing in straight lines along major arteries.
