Farage had the opportunity to do the right thing, the kind of thing responsible leaders might do….but instead he insisted it was all fine. Ugly language he said - too true that. With an ugly sentiment behind it. Racism. You know what makes me mad Nige, all them white faces in Reform pics..:)

Delighted to say that an updated and expanded version of my series on one of the most extraordinary acts in aviation history will be running on The Up Front over the coming weeks.

And even better: it's now completely free to read.
In December 1941, Pan Am flight 18602 was trapped the wrong side of the Pacific by the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

To get home, her civilian crew would need to do the near-impossible: circumnavigate the world in commercial seaplane.

In our new series, we tell tell their remarkable story.

Horrified by the reports coming out of Huntingdon tonight. My thoughts are with those hurt and everyone who witnessed it.

Thank you to the emergency services on the scene.

Had a lovely crowd at the Glee in Birmingham tonight - thanks to everyone there. I’m struggling with some post-viral laryngitis so the show was a lot croakier than usual but it was still a lot of fun. Back in my hotel room with my steamer and Manuka honey trying to get my voice better for tomorrow!

Might put the clock back again tonight. Take the extra hour in bed again. Make it a regular thing. See what happens.

I wonder. If Trump goes for a third term, does that mean Obama could stand against him?
Whilst I don’t give the Obama Presidency a free pass, the sight of him beating Trump would be enough to allow me to.
Obama: They never miss a chance to scapegoat minorities and D.E.I. For every problem under the sun. You got a flat tire? D.E.I.. Wife mad at you? D.E.I..

Fascinating! This was pre-multiplex, so those old cinemas would have struggled to have as wide a selection as your local video rental shop. My home town closed its cinema completely during the 80s. I saw Raiders for the first time at a local theatre, on a pull-up projector screen.
If you’d asked me to guess the nadir of UK cinema going I would never ever have chosen the mid-80s, which I think of as the peak of blockbuster crowd-pleasers that everybody has seen

Labour costs are your costs. Supplier costs are your costs. A business plan takes this into account.

Otherwise you’re just speculating that your suppliers and workers will be better, tougher, more financially resilient businesspeople than you are.

Living wage, please.

This is WAY wider than the BL.

If the only way to keep things open, or on sale, or running, is to make your workers take the heat, yet again, you should close down.

And let’s see how long the leak of money upwards continues when we lose all our services and things we rely on.

Apologies to anyone expecting us to be at the Tales Of The Weird event at the British Library this weekend, but in support of the PCS industrial action, we’ve decided not to cross the picket line. Will and I are both former librarians, and want to show support to the striking staff.
