It's a fond hello to Enid Blyton, who died on this day in 1968, aged 71. Author of 100s of books (even she lost count), including the utterly thrilling Famous Five adventures. Excluded by libraries, banned by the BBC, clunky, parochial, hated by one daughter, loved by the other. And yet, and yet...

Trees and wine! The dream team.
France plans to spend $150 million to rip out grape vines due to wine industry woes from increasing heat, drought, etc

Yet planting rows of trees around vines can drought- & heat-proof them while keeping production up w/o irrigation

I reported about this #agroforestry solution in southern France:

"Perhaps the most striking findings is that the British public vastly overestimates the cost getting to net zero by almost 14,000%, fueling scepticism & a reluctance to pay. On average, they estimate it will need 28% of GDP by 2050, compared to @thecccuk.bsky.social forecast of just 0.2%"

Today a story I've spent months reporting and writing runs on @desmog.com and @theguardian.com.

It's based on hundreds of exclusive documents revealing how Exxon funded the rightwing Atlas Network to spread climate denial across Latin America and the Global South.
