Rusted-on to morality, decency & human rights. Democracy is pretty damn ok too when it works. Still waiting for the most wealthy 1% to end world poverty TODAY. Keeper of the Laura Tingle shrine. Typos are a given these days because I am often Very Angry.

Me too.
As an Australian taxpayer, I continue to resent paying the 6-figure salary of the conflict of interest-riddled Special Envoy Jillian Segal
Earlier this year (January 2025) Special Envoy Jillian Segal confirms the US govt lobbied and convinced the Aust Govt to get her position established.

The NACC has over two hundred employees and an annual budget of over $60m, but has yet to land a single major finding from over 5,000 referrals.
The pressure is rising.
Does the NACC have any hope of regaining public trust?

I'm old enough to remember when people looked at me oddly because I used expensive SLR graphics cards and had cards in my laptop worth more than the laptop, just to use OpenCL for election and campaign modeling. Now you're all going to die from energy and water shortages because people want FapGPT
Excellent!
A terrific AFP fact check uses reverse image searches to expose how a White House video took scenes from Florida, Texas, South Carolina and Nebraska and lied that they showed "Chicago is in chaos."

Post from WH about Chicago "in chaos," showing scene from another state.
That’s good, tbh I’m a bit over the constant ‘we’re all doomed’ mindset Trump et al forces everyone into. I think the point of the OP, and myself, is that it’s just as dangerous to get stuck there. We don’t need to be bamboozled by the warmongers.
11 coal powered stations have closed here since 2012. That’s a fact. Have all of those workers been re-employed? I can’t say for certain but do personally know ppl who have been re trained to work in renewables (primarily wind). Nothing works for everyone, but it’s not a zero sum game either.
Ppl have been saying ‘all the jobs will disappear’ every time technology advances when in reality what happens is that work in different sectors ebbs & flows. Remember “if the coal-fired power stations close / logging stops /etc. etc. everyone will be unemployed”? It’s just not how employment works.
Who mentioned ‘going to war’? I know it’s out of favour these days but Govts are supposed to find ways to work WITH countries doing good things, for the benefit of us, the citizens. At the very least they could help businesses bring the best of the best work practices here. The alternative is bleak.
20 rows! I’m knitting a cardigan at the moment that has a ‘flat cable’ pattern over 8 rows and I can never remember to turn the darn counter over at the end of the row! Totally hopeless 😛
Hahaha - you’ve got it 🫡
So there you have it. Catch up, keep up or you might as well stop trying. It’s time our governments all stopped talking about irrelevant nonsense and really started looking at the future #auspol
While Trump plays trade war like he’s holding all the cards, our executives are coming back from China terrified.

They’re walking through “dark factories” where robots run the show so efficiently the lights don’t even need to be on.

One exec saw a plant pumping out phones with zero human workers.

An emotional minute as the word Democracy melts away in front of the US Capitol Building.

More and more Australians are seeing through the spin, and working out that Australia being a US base for B52 bombers, nuclear submarines, marines and spy hubs is making us less safe. Much less safe.
Oops - that’s was meant to be Ms Artiste! 😛
That’s gorgeous, both pattern and colour! Amazing if you’ve never knitted cable before - a lot of stitch and row counting, right? 🤪 Also? 3 months is FAST! Go you, Mr Artiste!
But there’s going to be a Football Stadium in Hobart that will be used at least 10 times a year!
