I recently unarchived the very first novel I ever wrote and I thought I would publicly shame myself by analysing how terrible it is, starting with the completely unnecessary Prologue. #WritingCommunity

Prologue - My Terrible First Novel

I've been using @kagi.com for about a month now and what I love is not suffering the endless attempts to trick me into buying tangentially related tat to my search. How novel! Plus the small web viewer is delightful. I am hoping Orion does come to Linux one day though...

The thing after the A.I. bubble bursts is going to be even stupider. Get ahead of it an invest in my idea: A robotic parrot that sits on your shoulder and shouts, "Outta the way! Big fuckin' idiot, comin' through!"

I've become obsessed with SVGs and this guide is the best I've seen explaining how to use the <path> element
✨ I just published a brand-new post! It’s about the notorious SVG <path> element.

With its compact Regex-style syntax, <path> can be super intimidating. But they’re also *incredibly* powerful, letting us draw (and animate!) curved lines.

You can read it here, and I’ll share more info in thread. 🧵
An Interactive Guide to SVG Paths • Josh W. Comeau
SVG gives us many different primitives to work with, but by far the most powerful is the <path> element. Unfortunately, it’s also the most inscrutable, with its compact Regex-style syntax. In this tut...

#CSS #Tailwind experts, I need your help! I'm completely stumped about how to achieve this effect where the 'title' and the main content box share a border.

Do I somehow need to clip the bottom of the title's border to hide it...?

Over the last couple of days I've switched from vscode to @zed.dev and the difference in performance is astounding.

Never again will I have to wait for vscode to do whatever it was doing to save a file.

I've been trying to articulate why the fawning, complimentary responses from AI chatbots feel so insidious to me. I've finally figured out how to explain it.

I'm currently building a display for my 5-year-old so he has some clue what's happening.

He often asks what day it is, what's happening, what's for dinner, etc. I'm hoping the display will help give him some agency, as being 5 seems confusing. It'll also trick him into reading...

@bmann.ca once told me "Self hosting is selfish", it struck a nerve and I instantly knew he was right. The priesthood of programmers cannot save the internet with our private gated co-los and suburban home servers.

This is a beautiful synopsis of why: We're still thinking feudal terms.

I wish more companies would follow the @coolify.io or @penpot.app business model of self-host or pay to let them handle it for you.

The model respects your skill or your time (or both).
