In highly important news from history today, it’s the 80th anniversary of the 21st birthday of Christopher Tolkien, notable now for the wording (especially the small print) of the invitation to the party

And this was, I think, the best, most permanent way I could contribute to this for Tristan and Sharmane.

We can't really say this enough...

Just skimming through my phone photos, deleting unwanted ones, I came across this one which made me think of Caspar David Friedrich’s paintings 🙂🥹

The river made a slightly Goldsworthy-esque kind of thing 🙂
I’m having to wade through the river on my morning runs because they haven’t replaced the ‘unsafe’ bridge yet 🫤. After a period of heavy rains it will become too deep to cross safely 🥺.

I’m sickened by this belittling of the natural world. The government’s apparent ignorance regarding nature, particularly Reeves and Starmer, is appalling. They seemingly have no comprehension of the value of biodiversity and ecological homeostasis. Won’t anyone in the party speak up against them?

@nachtdufter While cat- sitting my sister came round and we watched 2 mildly scary films: Veronica (with subtitles) & Eli. My sister loves horror films and she chose them (she knows I’m a wimp when it comes to scary stuff). We enjoyed both of them 🙂 Veronica is supposed to be based on a true story 🥺

This is a useful summary of Hiller's work on this topic. I did have a short discussion in the book of the import of this for Barnes's claims about epistemic injustice (as opposed to the overarching project of defending a mere difference account of disability), but I think it mostly got squeezed out.
