Three hen harriers, m and two ringtails, c7 marsh harriers and gw egret into roost at the Arun this evening. Hawfinch along the riverbank, various finches over and two flyover mandarins the best of the rest. #ukbirding

Extremely slow offshore from Fowey yesterday, just a few auks of note and no birds working, unsurprising given the easterly wind. No cetaceans which was surprising! Back out from Falmouth today.

Scattering of migrants around Rame Head this morning after the fog: tree pipit, wheatears, willow warblers, nothing moving offshore unsurprisingly, nice local church.

Britain has gained a new butterfly!

The long-anticipated arrival of Southern Small White (Pieris mannii) has been confirmed.
From Landguard, Obsidentify says Southern Small White although this species is not on the British List yet so is the AI correct ! It has spread into the Low Countries from Southern Europe in recent years so is expected to arrive sometime.

Uptick in waders around the north wall at pagham hbr early on: spotted redshank, greenshank, LRP on the breech pool; two knot, two common sands, grey plover and turnstone off the sluice. A total of 59 sp. all told but still no crossbill...

Ten Little & 50 Sandwich Terns west at Selsey Bill mid-morning but the rain front didn't appear to push anything of note through the Channel. A Green Sandpiper was at Mill Lane Marsh on the way home.
