Lucy spent her whole childhood around therapists. Listening to them talk techniques with her parents at the dinner table, spending time at their kids' birthday parties, forced into sessions of her own just to check all the gears in her head were spinning as they should-surface-level interactions, really. They were always just... around. A familiar presence. So, therapy became a box to tick off, another activity that slotted into her schedule like homework and extra Spanish lessons, rather than something she really needed. It was never uncomfortable for her, because she just didn't know any different.
And then she was kidnapped by Caleb.
