This is a good piece. I worked in higher ed (administration) and we talked about waning state funding a lot. "The budget" was a topic of discussion over many lunches, and reductions in state funding was the reason. I'm glad it's a bit better now, but college is still not doable for too many.

Last night, a Barred Owl decided to roost in a tree right outside our window. I went downstairs to sleep on the couch but my wife had already thought the same thing about 10 minutes before me. It flew off at sunrise and I got zero sleep 🤣
