Trying to step down from "monster fucker" smut & try alien romance... I mean why not? it's "candy" reading & I've done hard stuff all year! But these are really good, the chracters are well drawn, the universe building is pitch perfect, and the smut is way toned down from the last series.

fast read. fun characters, cute litte twists.
I'm definitely winding down here at the end of the year. I think I've only got 8 or so left in me. I had planned to read 90 books this year, but have managed over 150. That'll do.

This is such an incredible image. Perfect lighting! it feels eldritch and creepy, but has this lovely, almost balletic, movement and grace. Truly stunning image, glad the photog shared it with us all!

dreary-feeling overcast day. it did rain a bit.
"lean in", says my little heart ("... so you don't despair").

set the lights to cozy
lit two two-wick candles and a pine-scented woodwick
Christmas tunes on blast

eyeing the stack of books on the side table.
just relaxing my eyes for a moment.

This is a great shot!
His tiny gravitas makes it seem like he's a judgy dad examining one of my schleppy moochy friends.

I got a tricycle with a basket for trips to the library and possibly the grocery store at a future point.
Great ride along video with Mandalyn from Offbeat Bikes. We recently bought a bike from her in Chicago. You should too!

Such a promising concept. I was looking forward to this book, but it was a real dud. it was a really great short story that was stretched into a repetitive and frustratingly under-imaginative narrative. The characters were melodramatic and annoying.
It's put me off books this week.

I've been surprised by the amount of character development in these last couple of Nascosta books. Very enjoyable in the end.

Red River Road was a book club pick, but it's one of the best books I've read this year. Which is a lot since I've hated so many of the picks this year.

What a great series! The girls and I love this kind of stuff. He looks so sweet on the branch, but he's a 🎵dangerous predator🎵. Ruthless killer. Eating a mid-flight treat!

The rizz on this little fella! 🪶💚
On my way to the ramp I noticed a Kestrel Falcon on the hunt and he caught a mouse:

this was a fun book! a little bit goofy rom-com, but as we head into the Christmas movie season, I'm super into cheesy romance. would absolutely recommend. I loved the twists and turns and reading a relationship budding between adults. low-no spice. just mature attitudes.

I hard dipped after Star Wars ep2. So, i'm REAL THRILLED that the kids used their "Sunday Night Series" turn to choose ANDOR.
Pay back for Ken Burns Civil War when it was my turn. & the whole Anne of Green Gables movie series AWK chose last time.

Keeping on with the Nacosta series. eh, less weird. although not really.
Had been looking forward to reading the Perry memoir for a long while. Heartbreaking. I smoked for years but quit during IVF. i can't imagine drowning in these kind of depths of addiction. it was hard to listen to.

Opened up the Steve Martin station I have saved on Spotify to see they'd added new music. Very exciting!
Yungblud just got a whole lot cooler in my estimation. TBH, I've never heard him before.

i chose a book I KNOW well. so I wouldn't be lost. good practice. & more interesting than kids books TBCH.

I just learned that NaNoWriMo shut down earlier this year. I haven't been able to write for the last few years (mental & scheduling space).
I wish all my writer friends who are participating in Nov. writing challenges the absolute best.

I mean... it's obviously a Death Star, right?

I love that the technology exists to get these deeply interesting shots, and that photog are willing to share them with us all!
The Garlic Nebula's a faint object, best imaged with long integration times (33 hrs), dark skies (Bortle 1), and a fast scope (f/3.9). Fortunately, I had all three.

I get the criticisms that this novel is baldly derivative... but the author makes some decisions that set it apart from it's models. not great decisions, though I think he works to build or resolve them in interesting ways. may read more of the series.

okay. i *said* "monster fucker" smut wasn't for me, but apparently I'm reading this whole series! LOL.
I will say this feels a bit less gratuitous. I like how the author is working on building a world in this one. They all seem to have a HEA, which is ... whatever.

An old favorite, I've read Frankenstien many times I'm never disappointed in the whole people are both awful & wretchedwhile also being worthy of love & need caring for. No notes, Mary. 👨‍🍳
Pageboy was kind of a lot, but I adore the vulnerability.

This is such a fabulous shot! I've never heard of this bird before. A quick wiki search reveals we are kind of at the edge of thier zone, so make sense.

I love learning about new birds! Thanks for posting this up!

Continuing with Steinbeck.
Have read Mice/Men b4, I didn't remember the timeframe being so short. It feels even more tragic when taking that into account.

Pretty much hated TF. nearly DNF, the characters are awful people & we've got too much of that IRL.
