The Pluto Red Devils, or French Lick Plutos, were an early Negro league team in French Lick, IN, from 1912-1914. They often played near the West Baden Springs Hotel and the French Lick Springs Hotel. Their name came from a mineral water produced at the French Lick Hotel.

While not a part of any organized Negro League, the Fort Wayne Colored Giants hosted numerous well known Negro National League clubs such as the Chicago American Giants and the Indianapolis ABCs at League Park in Fort Wayne, as well as local teams like the Lincoln Lifers.
Our Indiana Black Baseball Collection is live! In celebration of Black History Month, we will be highlighting some lesser-known negro league teams from Indiana, such as the Fort Wayne Colored Giants, Pluto Red Devils and the West Baden Sprudels.
