This is such a failure; when I was in training (1998-2009) we had ~100 cases a year; the worst year being 2008 with 140. This latest outbreak will push us over 1,700, with a few months to go in 2025. America was declared measles-free in 2000 (defined as 12 months with no endemic transmission) 1/3
A measles outbreak along the border of Utah and Arizona has sickened more than 100 people. A majority of the cases are in unvaccinated people.

In the hardest-hit counties, childhood vaccination rates steeply declined during the pandemic.

mRNA vaccines 🧬 are already great but they can be made even more effective by making them code for virus-like nanoparticles 🦠 rather than just single proteins 🧪

This means a lower dose is required, which should reduce side effects

Why the next generation of mRNA vaccines is set to be even better
mRNA vaccines are quick and easy to make, while virus-like nanoparticles produce a stronger immune response - now the two approaches are being combined to give us the best of both worlds

AI is horrifying and so is meta. I personally think sharing of photos should be as less as possible, specially our children's.

The people getting laid off are some of the highest-trained and most specialized people in healthcare. They don’t just get replaced by hiring some new people when a sane administration takes over. This is a huge loss for America.
BREAKING: Friday night massacre underway at CDC. Doznes of "disease detectives," high-level scientists, entire Washington staff and editors of the MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) have all been RIFed and received the following notice:

The nazis themselves were not some clever masterminds where everything they did went perfect. They were also comical idiots who did ridiculous things, like invading Russia in the winter.

They gained power because the opposition couldn’t understand that the fascists were not rational agents.
that said: I think the "it's not fascism unless they're good at it" brand of analysis probably isn't the move

She had a reputation for working with Republicans and Democrats alike. But @drdebhoury.bsky.social was never once able to brief RFK Jr. In fact, she only met him once — when he toured the empty CDC after a gunman killed Officer David Rose and traumatized staff.

This is what demonizing Tylenol will wreak.

A sweet and happy new year to everyone, except for the government of Israel, the IDF, Stephen miller, and a few others. To the people of Palestine, to the immigrants to the United States, may god bestow all blessings upon you, and may he give you peace.
The CEO at Tylenol's should rename
'Acetaminophen' to 'Epsteinaminophen'

I’m autistic. Not because of Tylenol.
Not because of vaccines.
Not because of some headline.

Dr. Malone asked about adjuvants in MMR. Live-attenuated vaccines like MMR don’t use adjuvants. Because the weakened virus replicates a bit in the host, it naturally provides the innate immune stimulus — the very role adjuvants play in non-live vaccines.

the kimmel thing is bad but as long as they arent rounding people up indiscriminately based on race, building concentration camps and talking about eradicating those they deem sexual deviants, i think we’ll be ok

The “medical freedom” movement claims to be about choices, like to not vaccinate their kids.

But they already have that choice. Absolutely nobody in the U.S. has to vaccinate their kid.

But what about everyone whose choice is for their infant to not get exposed to a vaccine-preventable disease?

I completely agree. Throw in low covid vaccine and flu vaccine rates given the ongoing misinformation and access barriers from the top, the threat of birdflu that never really went away and we are entering a very uncertain respiratory virus season in the US.
Oh hey, H5N1 in Texas dairy cows! Are you a new spillover or have you always been there, undetected b/c of insufficient testing?

It’s migration season, almost flu season, & we’ve never had a handle on the cow outbreak. Bird flu is here & we ignore at our peril

The level of grifting and BS that is fed to these silicone valley men to help them “live forever” is so sickening.

“Dario Amodei speculated that A.I. could double the human life span “in five to ten years”
