Last night, the long term care residents were watching Mary Poppins. At the end of the movie when Mary flies off with her umbrella, one of the residents laughed and yelled out "Look at her fucking flying off like that!" I'm still chuckling.

Alright. Found my laser tape measure and used it to measure my stride length to calibrate the Fitbit. So pissed it's been such an ordeal to get it working. My 15 year old pokewalker is a better step counter than anything I've tried.

Well shit. Chungus has friends, but not of his own species. Two are three-lined cories, one is a peppered cory. They are all happiest in same-species schools, not the eclectic mix I have. Kinda annoyed by my local pet store.

Took 3 hours, but i got Rusty Spoons' new cage assembled. I only broke 1 corner. Gonna glue that up and let it cure for a few hours before I move him in later tonight.

Got 3 spotted cories to try with Chungus. The lights are off to let them adjust, but Chungus is no longer frantically racing laps around the tank.

I haven't seen Dingus the Cory cat around the aquarium for a few days. No sign of remains inside or outside of the tank. Chungus is doing well, though. If my water quality stays stable, I may try to get him some friends Wednesday.

Did some work on the tank tonight. I added 3 Java ferns: a normal, a narrow leaf, and a windelov. I have never had luck gluing them to rocks, so I'm trying plant weights and just letting them root down into the gravel on their own. Also cleaned out more dang hair algae.

Gave in and ordered a pair of jumping spiders. I've got one week to get their cages ready, then I will have small, acrobatic, fuzzy friends to watch again.

Working my way home now. Should get in late tomorrow night, then back on the road Wednesday morning for therapy. Gonna miss the wooly bears, green tree frogs, and leaf insects. So many good critter friends in the south.

Out at the Flight 93 memorial. Bummed that the visitor center is closed, but so thankful for the maintenance worker who took the time to explain the layout and share some facts.

Ugh. The thermostat probe got pulled out of the tank somehow and the water hit 95F. 2 rasbora dead, four missing. The 2 Cory cats seem fine, and the shrimp I see are doing fine, but I'm sure I lost some. I'll probably never know because dark blue shrimp on black gravel with plants are hard to see.

Got the shrimp today instead of Monday. 30 blues, with a variety of sizes/ages. I may need to just pour them in after acclimating. I don't have any net fine enough for the tiniest ones.

Aww shit. The shrimp is ordered aren't going to be here until Monday. I leave early that morning for a week. I guess my best chance is to have the pet sitter bring the box in and just dump them in the tank. I don't know if he's willing or able to take the time to acclimate them.

Josh's Frogs has captive bred jumping spiders in stock. I want to order one so bad, but in one week, I'm going on vacation. Between Cheez-It, the roaches, and the fish, I'm already asking a lot of my pet sitter. Dealing with flightless fruit flies just seems like too much.

Last night I got a hug from one of the LTC residents. Still riding a high from it. She really is such a sweetie when she's not trying to drink the dish soap.
Another resident patted my cheek and called me lovely because I fixed the coffee machine. I do enjoy my shifts in LTC.
