“They were careless people…they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.”

Next time a Republican claims this is a “Democrat Shutdown,” they should be reminded that Russell Vought, the president’s top budget adviser, encouraged the GOP in Congress to shut down the government because it’s easier to dismantle the government when it is closed. He's on record liking shutdowns.

The Senate voted 50–46 tonight to block Trump’s tariffs on Canada, and yesterday it voted to block his tariffs on Brazil. Now we need the house to vote. Where’s the House? Is Johnson still guarding the Epstein files?
American amb”ass”ador. When they send their best people to represent their country and this is what we get.
Let me tell you. The process of waiting for a crisis bed is an absolute nightmare. Just got my Mom in one 3 weeks ago. Great place! The process was excruciating. No idea how a family without someone to devote massive amounts of time to personally coordinate all the disconnected things could manage.

For those of us currently dealing with a family
Member that has moderate dementia - this is incredibly familiar. Aimless Wandering. Unable to follow directions. Abrupt stops or none at all with purposeless continued walking.
I don’t see anybody begging to go. Somebody needs to come and get their dad asap. Looks like others around him are using him as their puppet to do their will while he rants and rages at the sky. He needs help.
If he had ever actually done an IQ test, he would know this was not one. And anyone who has ever had to manage elderly parents with cognitive issues, knows this test well. It appears he has done it several times. That usually indicates significant concern and behavioural changes.
This is the thing about dementia. The patient thinks things are happening that aren’t.They have great trouble learning anything new & replace known things & known memories with new imagined ones. They cannot be convinced differently. They anger easily & irrationally. They will deny even obvious proof.

Why bother making an actual trade deal when you can just announce a new “framework” every few months and manipulate the markets?
Another reason for Canada to de-Americanize as quickly as possible. There don’t appear to be any adults in charge next door. No international trade agreements with the US are worth anything as long as the one in charge is liable to change his mind based on daily scheduled tantrums.

“the president got mad at a television commercial so now your maple syrup is more expensive” is no way to run a country
And the “National Security” issue this time? His feelings were hurt.
We can’t un-Americanize fast enough up here. Dealing with his daily scheduled tantrums that now shape America policy until the next tantrum is a ridiculous position for the rest of the world to be in.

While we spectate on The East Wing being torn down, it isn’t just another hallway, it’s where Eleanor Roosevelt built the modern Office of the First Lady, where WWII bunkers were hidden, and where the public enters the People’s House. Erasing it is rewriting history.

Health insurance prices for next year under the Affordable Care Act are now available in about a dozen states, giving Americans their first look at the sharp increases many will pay for coverage if Congress does not extend subsidies that have made some plans more affordable.
Higher Obamacare Prices Become Public in a Dozen States
Consumers are facing greater costs for their 2026 A.C.A. health coverage as Congress continues to debate whether to extend subsidies that help people afford their premiums.

It costs ~$70 to produce a year’s supply of insulin.

Yet, the average annual cost of insulin went from $2,864 in 2012 to $5,705 in 2016 to $18,000 in 2025. A 25,714% markup. That isn’t inflation or supply chain—It’s corporate greed.

Now—California will sell insulin for $11. Make this nationwide!

If anyone was holding out hope that the younger generation of Republicans could save the party from continuing down the path of white supremacy, hate and fascism, you can stop hoping.

It’s exhausting. And frankly for the rest of the province it’s like, “hello! What about us over here!”. So many big pressing issues and what do they have to do to drag his attention away from Toronto…?
It would be great if he spent a whole lot less time fixating on Toronto municipal politics and focused on the province. Seems it should be a big enough job with little time for his endless longing to go back to his city council beginnings. Let it go Doug. Let it go.
And there he goes. Right back into the usual garbage comments.
