Well, I've been dealing with a double foot infection for 2 months. It's been a slog. On the brighter side, after playing classical guitar for 30+ years, I finally bought a hand-made classical. Made by luthier Lorenzo Masini in 2024.

Automation/Robots will provide people with the freedom to focus more on music and art.

Now AI creates art and music completing the loop to completely remove people from the process altogether.

Bach's Prelude, Fugue and Allegro played by Davide Prina. A truly magnificent version of BWV 998. I'll be "borrowing" a few of his left had fretting choices. #ClassicalGuitar

YouTube is a great resource for classical guitarists. I found this video of Iva Kosic practicing Bach's BWV 998 Prelude. Really great for left hand positional tips. She also covers the BWV 998 Allegro.

My Nechville Nextar that I purchased from Noam Pikelny in 2007. Met him in Montreal before a PB show. He signed the resonator and we played some tunes. Played every day. Re-fretted twice. Played in a touring band for 5 years.

Post a photo of your main banjo and a little of its history.

In two weeks, I've worked on Bach's Prelude BWV 998. Quite a piece of music! I also practice my other pieces and learned how to play cross string trills and add them into my Bach pieces. I learned how to play them through Tariq Harb's YouTube video. Very interesting.

Damn it! I have been trying to create a different kind of platform here on Bluesky, but my feed has turned into a duplicate version of my X feed which is not what I wanted.
Frustrating to say the least.

After a 30 year hiatus, I am playing classical guitar again. Relearned 6 Bach pieces and some Renaisaance pieces. The great thing about learning today is the vast array of YouTube videos showing proper finger positions and better dynamics.

Case in point. Spectacular!

Test 30 from Bellin & Ponzetto-Test-Your-Positional Play book. You play positions from real games to find the best plan from 3 plans. I've spent a year completing the 30 tests in this book. I play from the position to help me select the correct plan before l see the plans. Found a Queen sac!

This was the video that made me aware of BB Bowness as a serious banjo player. She is a really great arranger for the banjo and is continually pushing the limits.

Alison Brown is an incredible banjo player and composer. She has broadened the banjo's horizons immensely. My favourite CDs are Fair Weather and Quartet, but they're all really great. See her live, if you get the chance!

Old audio file of me playing 3 tunes from Chris Grotewohl's book Celtic 5-String: Playing Irish Dance Tunes.
Tunes: The Silver Spear/The Drunken Tinker/Rollin' in the Rye Grass. Keys: D/A/D

These were the early days in my single-string journey. I'm better now.

I had a nice conversation with Chris in the early 2000's and he gifted me a PDF of his Tab Book entitled Celtic 5-String: Playing Irish Dance Tunes. I spent a lot of time learning how to play these tunes. Give Quasimodal a try. Tab image is below found on the web. It's a great piece!
