1894-OTD French MD/immunologist Emile Roux successfully demonstrated his vaccine against diphtheria.Dr. Roux was a colleague of Louis Pasteur & helped co-found the Pasteur Institute 2 develop vaccines against rabies & other lifesaving medications. Would that his faith in vaccines persisted 2day!😢🇫🇷⚕️👏🏻

1953-OTD General George C. Marshall became the 1st & only American General 2 receive the Nobel Peace Prize 4 his plan 2 rebuild war ravaged Europe after WW2.The Marshall plan did more 2 defeat the Communists than anything else.Good lessons here about the importance of supporting our Allies👏🏻🇺🇸
1969-OTD Tom “The Franchise” Seaver won his first Of 3 Cy Young awards for his 25-7 record for the World Champion #NYMets. He was amazing to behold in those years from 1969-74. One of my greatest heroes in baseball. He appropriately entered the #HOF in 1992 & earned a statue in front of CitiField⚾️👏🏻❤️
1886- OTD POTUS Grover Cleveland dedicated the #StatueofLiberty in NYC. The statue was a gift from the people of France 2 the USA.The dedication was followed by the first Ticker Tape parade down Broadway in history. Celebrating Liberty & treating Allies well is something we could learn from 2day🇫🇷🇺🇸👏🏻❤️
70 yrs ago today the iconic #RebelWithoutACause was premiered, starring #JamesDean, #NatalieWood, & #SalMineo. It captured the teen angst of living in the ColdNwqr and Nuclear Age made the trio stars. James Dean was incredible! Gone too soon. 😞🎥👏🏻

Today would have been the 100th birthday of the undisputed King of Late Night TV, Johnny Carson. His was was the greatest form of entertainment you could get for free. Comedians, great comic sketches, musicians, actors all peppered his show with must-C-📺. Thanks for the memories Mr. Carson🙏👏🏻❤️

1976-OTD 1 of my adolescent heroes, #NYKnicks captain Willis Reed, had his # retired up 2 the rafters of MSG.He played his entire 11 season career with the NYK after graduating from Grambling & led them to 2 #NBA championships.Only 6’9”,he centered up against Wilt,Thurmond,Russell, & Unseld.WOW!🏀❤️

1952-OTD THE 1st edition of the iconic #MadMagazine was released. As a boy growing up in the 50’s and 60’s , this was a constant companion and source of many a giggle in summer camp and in school. I probably missed 3/4 of the satire and failed to appreciate the amazing artwork- but I loved it!🙏👏🏻❤️
1777-OTD General Horatio Gates and his Continental Army defeated British General Burgoyne in the Battle of Saratoga, a huge boost for Independence. It helped Lafayette and Ben Franklin to convince Louis XVI to support the American cause🇺🇸👏🏻🙏

One of the greatest days in my life as a Mets fan. I was 15 and had followed the team since ‘62. That year was miraculous. So many key factors- Gil Hodges, Seaver, Cleon Jones, Tommie Agee, Jerry Koosman, Don Clendenon, Swoboda, black cats, shoe polish, landing on the moon. SIMPLY AMAZING!
