Hello Bluesky. I'm here because Meta doesn't want me. Looking forward to post unfiltered, unhinged and un-whatever stuff here. Tell your friends!
I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

🌍 Just published a small Python script to help download Copernicus DEM tiles (30m) for any AOI using the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem.
Supports parallel downloads & simple setup.

Our new paper in @ecosistemas-aeet.bsky.social shows that genetic data confirms the non-native status of Austropotamobius crayfish in Spain, despite repeatedly published claims of the contrary
Since it is in Spanish, we provide an English version in this link digital.csic.es/handle/10261...

What’s driving the change?
🚧 Dams & barriers
🌡️ Climate change
🏙️ Land use & invasives species

We propose a new Species Deviation Index (SDev) that captures both losses and gains of native species offering a clearer picture of riverine fish community change.

Sites with high deviation often align with human pressure points:

Rivers in Baden-Württemberg have seen a ~64% decline in #native #fish species richness compared to historical references.

Can you add me please? I'm working with fish ecology in south Germany.

Today we sampled cormorant stomachs at Lake Constance to assess their impact on #native #fish species.

Thanks!!
