Background in philosophy, theology and biology. Look for and support what's good, beautiful, true, and serves the common good (especially "the least of these"). Reject that which is self-serving and cruel. I enjoy cooking and learning about foods.
“…you did right, my boy, whether the fellow gets a summons or not. Many folks would have ridden by and said it was not their business to interfere. Now I say that with cruelty and oppression it is everybody's business to interfere when they see it; you did right, my boy.”

The first recommendation:

“At this time, I suggest the general public avoid the CDC website.”

Where to go for accurate information now that the CDC is posting blatantly false information.
One of CDC’s final blows. And what it means for you.
Where to find trusted health information now?

The dangers in Florida's adoption of The Heritage Foundation's Phoenix Declaration -- what we can do to counter its poison.
*******
“The Freedom to Read Project has seen that when people show up…censorship loses its footing…communities across the state will determine whether and what it grows into.”
The Phoenix Declaration: What It Is and What Floridians Can Expect Now That the State Has Become the First to Adopt It
Florida quietly adopted the Heritage Foundation’s vague Phoenix Declaration, enabling future curriculum restrictions, increased censorship, educator pressure, and deeper ideological control over publi...

It’s amazing what a country can do to make the lives of its residents better when it seeks to serve the common good rather than put maximizing profits for the few above a good quality of life and affordability for the 99%.

We need to expect and demand more and better from our own government.

Let's talk about affordability, abundance, and Australia--and why thanks to Trump we can't have nice things

While too many in the US church community have turned away from the pleas of Palestinian Christians to help in stop brutality and murder, some churches and their members have chosen to hear. This has a link to a declaration we can sign to stand united in our love for the Christians of Palestine.

The elections give us hope. America does not side with dictators and will not willingly submit.
But: the regime will not step aside or change course just because they’re unpopular. That’s not the way dictatorships work. It will double down on cruelty.
We must keep on and say “NO!” every way we can.

Honor Veterans Day (next week) by voting against the people and systems supporting the one who called soldiers “suckers and losers.” Vote against people and systems supporting cuts to the VA and the financial help that veterans, soldiers and their families depend on to keep their heads above water.

So far, an interesting book about an important idea and a city that made it central to its culture.

Another on-the-ground video about what’s happening with the protests in Paris. In case you weren’t aware: some of the coverage of the Paris protests (just like some of the things being said about anti-GOP regime protests in the U.S.) are less than accurate.

It's increasingly clear that we don't get good value for our money in the U.S.

Not from this GOP administration, and not from corporate America.

It’s helpful to remember that, for marketing purposes, companies like Disney want to cultivate feelings of loyalty and fondness from consumers. It’s a one way street though: they don’t actually care about anything other than your money and market control. Not you or your family.

The U.S. has shown it is not a reliable partner

"…stability is a competitive advantage…the world is…desperate for partners who keep their word. While Carney was ascribing Unity through shared strength and values, Trump was complaining about the Escalator…and broken teleprompter…”
BREAKING: Mark Carney Triggers A Geopolitical Earthquake in NY. "This Is Not a Transition. It’s a Rupture. And Canada Is Ready."
Mark Carney just redrew our map of the world—pro‑Canada, pro‑democracy, and unapologetically independent from Trump’s chaos.
