I tried to search this website for ocarina content but it is all Zelda. So weird that a whole instrument got overshadowed by a video game

There are two wolves inside me. One is a developer and one is a tester. There's a heated debate about whether writing automated tests is more important than it is mind-numbing

i write to you with solemn news. i am in paris, writing my life’s only masterwork. i spend my days drinking good espresso and smoking inexpensive cigarettes, writing clear and hard about what hurts. as such, i cannot ‘Log On’ - and friend - i will not attend your ‘laser-focused mesh network webinar’

"Tzefardea Tzedek" (Frog of Righteousness)

As soon as the Portland Frog became a meme, Jewish social media blew up with jokes about the 2nd Passover plague - tzefarde'a (frogs) - and the Rabbinical commentary around it. I knew I had to make a calligraphy piece encompassing all of it. (more in alt.)

I need to make some more circles...
(WIP) thing intended to show "yo atproto gives you a global identity and here are apps that use it"

want to make the logged-out experience informative too so i can share w uninitiated. i know @pdsls.dev exists (and rocks!), my end goal here is maximally accessible "look ma no silos!"

at-me.fly.dev
@me - explore your atproto identity
visualize your decentralized identity and see what apps have stored data in your personal data server

people saying ai is a fad don't know what they're talking about. i'm definitely not giving up my claude now; the ability to do structural refactors "change this thing to be layered like this thing in this other project" is fantastic. i *do* want the model to be local and hope we'll get there in time

I'm halfway through converting my personal site from pure HTML to @11ty.dev, and I have been quite surprised by how easy it has been! A really great piece of tech.

Interchangeability is what new social platforms like Bluesky and Mastodon are doing, though with different technologies and different ideas on how to do it.

When you hear talk about decentralization, it's about making the social platforms interchangeable to solve the neutrality problem.
Social platforms are not neutral
So they need to be interchangeable

Same data but just for September months. Completely unnecessary self flagellation. It's like all the lessons learned on the need for fiscal kick-starts are being roundly ignored. Small island, housing ponzi, rogergnomics, 8-wire, whip the poor exceptionalism. (2/2)

this is going to get me yelled at so I will preemptively say "this is not the thread to reply with 'but I just don't like AI and think it's bad'"

but I do think that "LLMs are glorified autocorrect" as a meme is actively hindering people's understanding of how this tech works at this point

A part of the reason the "AI discourse" is perpetually cursed is because it implicitly elides over differences in religious belief about the ontological reality of the Infinite Money God and one's moral and spiritual obligations towards it

this! so much of this.

if you’re comparing the AI to a theoretical perfect mind that never invents weird folk theories, never gets things subtly wrong, can apply every extant piece of knowledge in every context error-free, then yes, LLMs *are* garbage. we should use perfect minds instead. got one?
I left a conversation where I argued something maybe counter-intuitive: Often times AI systems offer up somewhat banal and dowdy statistical advice, and often it's subtly wrong.

I think that's fine.

It's almost always more sane, standard, and repeatable than the wild things that people reinvent.
