Anyone wanting to play with Gemini 3, you can get it here: aistudio.google.com

I tend not to use this because it's a limited web interface while Gemini CLI can create/delete/edit files on disk which is S-tier. I added myself to the waiting list for access to G3 with GCLI. Hopefully get it soon.

I know a lot of people hate LLMs, but for software dev by real coders it's insanely useful. I just had Gemini (2.5, not even 3 (plz, Google, give me?)) convert a Perl script into a Java app with a very basic Swing interface. This would have taken me an hour. It took minutes.

I should have just began disabling extensions to find it before complaining because I found it literally immediately. "Sky Follower Bridge", for whatever reason, is causing very noticeable delay in typing and characters appearing in input boxes on here. Ugh.
Apparently I have an extension running in Firefox that is causing delay when typing pretty much anything on the main Bluesky website. But I don't have any extensions for Bluesky AFAIK. BUT MY GOD IS IT ANNOYING ME.

I wish more Twitch streamers would multi-stream on YouTube or Kick. Kick has no ads and ad blockers still work perfectly on YouTube. Not so much on Twitch. Completely ruins live streams.

Kind of nice to see a tech company do platform releases the common sense way. Android is 72% of the handset market globally. Apple handsets always getting app updates first because US nerds have lost their way has been obscenely silly.

Until now, if you lost or broke your phone, your Signal message history was *gone,* a real challenge for everyone whose most important conversations happen in Signal. So, with careful design and development, we’re rolling out opt-in secure backups.

Twitter had to turn off its location feature within hours because thousands of prominent and "verified" MAGA accounts turned out to be foreign and I think it's hilarious that Elon was the one who exposed them all

This is NOT sustainable and for what AI still cannot do, it is not remotely worth it.

This week, I withdrew from a speaking engagement at a public university because they sent me a list of prohibited “words & concepts.” I will not humor this censorship. It does a disservice to the stories I’m discussing & the audience, who deserve unfettered access to information & conversation.

This is funny for many reasons but.. hold up a sec. Elon Musk.. revolutionized AI? Wasn't Grok 1.0 ChatGPT? I understand these days it's its own thing, but.. Twitter is about as much of a player in the AI space as Facebook is (yes I'm dead naming them both.)
Doing great, Grok

This is ChatGPT. I use Gemini for all the serious things, I swear.

I just finished reading Project Hail Mary like two days ago, so a new trailer dropping today is beyond perfect timing. I can't wait to go see this! www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VYs...

For lulz: Snapchat (~900 million monthly users) is nearly twice the size of Twitter (~580 million). Everybody I tell that looks at me funny, insists on telling me they didn't know anybody still used it and that it still existed.

Nearly 1 billion people use it every month.

Man I like the Perl language so much, and the interpreter is fantastic. But module dependency is an actual dumpster fire of stupid. So much so that I'm considering ditching Perl dev entirely in favor of Node.js. It shouldn't take 10+ mins to install a single freaking module.

Project Hail Mary - outstanding and now top 3 for me

The better Graham Platner does in the polls the more unhinged liberal purists become. I think that's good for the party. There's a serious chunk that needs to get past their obsession with pure and perfect candidates. Rejecting people that check off 95% but not 100% of your list is self-destructive.

Here's my good act for the day:

Thank you Elon Musk for donating to the Khan Academy in 2021.

And I'm just gonna leave it right there. Thanks for that.

AI has its drawbacks but please remember it's still literally just a baby. Some technology takes decades to perfect. And look at how hard I'm nerding right now with it..

Most Americans are 50x more interested in a pissing contest between dipshit billionaires who own rocket companies as if they were toys, as they are the invaluable science payloads their rockets carry into orbit and space. And we are all worse off for it. 🧡 Ars
