People often ask: what can ordinary people do to stop populists like Trump and Smith from running roughshod over democratic norms?

Populists rely on the widespread perception that their actions are supported by "the majority" and "common people."

Anything that punctures that myth helps. +

Danielle Smith does not, and that's democratically dangerous.

A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:

Health Minister Adriana LaGrange suppressed information about measles cases that health officials told her the public should have. Another must read from the Globe.

The math on that suggests they got a raise, too.

$8500 per surgery.

The grift keeps on giving.

WOW!

In March, Danielle Smith justified not calling for a public inquiry in part because her new right hand man...

(former #YEG Police Chief, Dale Mcfee)

had looked into the corrupt care scandal

The same one who the Globe showed was partying with Sam Mraiche!

While political parties & media debate ad nauseam who won the MOU, millions of Canadians still struggle day to day & are just surviving. The “they should budget better, get better jobs, work harder ppl” need to stop. The reality is ppl of power don’t care about those without it. That’s it.

Since when do I have to renew? Is this more useless politics?
November 27, 2025 at 11:39 PM
I’m disappointed in Mark Carney because I don’t think he’s doing anything measurable or tangible to make life more affordable for Canadians. The MOU may leave distaste in your mouth, but it’s politics.

Any maybe rightly so, but rarely see that charge against anyone of a certain colour who supports a certain political stripe.

Too scared to run on these ideas. Wonder why people loathe politicians?
"This is not what Albertans asked for, and it’s certainly not what Danielle Smith promised when she was running for Premier."

NDP leader Naheed Nenshi calls out Bill 11, arguing it's steering Alberta towards for-profit American-style health care to the province.

It’s pretty wild sitting in the backseat as your 14 year old rides shotgun for his 16 year old sister driving. Time flies.

A good Albertan, less concerned about the profits one can reap and more Alberta the we need to keep.

Make no mistake the current Alberta government is not conservative. They hide under that banner in name only.

Was just listening to CBC radio and I’m not sure who the interviewer was but he had on Mikey Amery, justice minister. The discussion revolved around Bill 9. Great questioning and challenging the minister who had no real thought other than to spew misinformation.

If something may be litigious and you feel you cannot win that, evoking a clause to bypass that is not in good faith.

The notwithstanding clause is a not a dog whistle clause. It’s supposed to mean something but it means nothing more than power to those who stands for nothing.
