If releasing the Epstein files would end your presidency, then your presidency must end. It’s that simple.

Brave survivors are going to sink more than this depraved pedophile-protecting POTUS.

can't overemphasize how cynical this is. he could have switched his vote anytime over the past months and made an actual difference; instead he waited till the exact moment he became irrelevant.

Worth remembering that Donald Trump has known all along what he did in regards to his good friend Jeffrey Epstein and has probably spent thousands of hours worrying about what would happen to him when the world learned about it.

Which says a lot of things about Garland, for one, and also puts the lie to all this "weaponization of the DOJ" bullshit that MAGA keeps spewing

Obvious but worth saying. We really think the White House/DOJ which disappears documents and people pretty regularly is gonna go, "Welp, House voted so I guess we have to turn over the stag films of Trump with a 15 yr old. The rules are the rules." I'm not saying the exercise is pointless at all.

There is literally no universe where Epstein and Maxwell did not affirmatively believe what they were writing in 2011; they had no motive at all to be playing an elaborate game at that point, in a way that they might have had the email been dated in, say, 2015 or later

This headline is journalistic malpractice. This isn't Epstein "alleging" that Trump knew. This is Epstein and Maxwell discussing - in 2011, long before Trump had political salience - how the FACT that Trump knew might play out

Both of them took as a given that this was a fact in a private email

I maintain my position that white collar crime remains the most underprosecuted, and more vigilance on this would have saved us from at least two Trump presidencies before they happened. These guys are sloppy, they're just also stupidly intimidatingly rich. But not richer than the State.
