I was thrilled to hear Stacey Abrams speak about her work on voting rights and changing structures. Her strategy changed the game in Georgia and across the country, and she’s done it with courage and grace. Check out how to fight authoritarianism at her organization:

I agree. Elected officials need to show up and have candid, transparent conversations with community. Ambiguous claims of values alignment is not enough. What specifically are we doing? What are the barriers to achieving the changes that community wants to see in the criminal legal system?
It is also worth mentioning, KFAI is the ONLY place you will hear this type of community-led convo with an elected official. This type of media is so important to how you form your civic understanding. More important than EVER. Support it!!, go to www.kfai.org/donate

I enjoy talking to DA about the public safety landscape here in Minneapolis and HC. It’s important for me to talk about challenges we’ve faced in the past three years so community can understand why and how the status quo pushes back.

“We went out to Denver as a group, and some representatives from Hennepin County came and we learned about the Denver model, which was to have an intense effort around those investigations.”

HCAO did go and we were excited about the Denver model. Minneapolis didn’t implement it.
We treat every non-fatal shooting in Saint Paul with the same urgency as a homicide. We’re solving more cases, cutting crime by double digits, and producing a record-low homicide rate—proving this action-driven approach creates safer outcomes.
St. Paul solved more crimes, had drastically fewer homicides in 2025
A remarkable shift is under way in St. Paul. The city is on track for a 70 percent drop in homicides by the end of 2025. And they’re solving more than 70 percent of crimes.

The good news is that Minneapolis is trending in the right direction, along with other big cities throughout the country.
