I'm looking forward to meeting with the Leicestershire & Rutland FHS lrfhs.org.uk this Wednesday where we'll be discussing how to kill off our ancestors. More details in the alt text. #FamilyHistory #Genealogy #AncestryHour
Leicestershire & Rutland Family History Society
Zoom Talk Wednesday 15th October 7.30pm
Killing Off Your Ancestors by Alison Spring
Even though your ancestors might have lived a
long time ago, finding out about their deaths can
teach you a lot about their lives. Discover the
many sources of information which will shed light
on this important point of their history.
To book a place, please email Sue Lester on
publicity@lrfhs.org.uk from 7 days before the
talk (7th October). The talk is free to all LRFHS
members. For non-members a small donation
(suggested £3) is appreciated as a contribution.

a gravestone, a newspaper announcement of a
death, and a graveyard.
Those pesky colds can be pretty debilitating too. Good thinking about waiting for the confirmation.
Sorry to hear you're unwell Claire. Yes, definitely exciting news about the whole genome sequencing.
Unusually early dinner means for once I’ve actually not missed #AncestryHour My fortnightly session in @gwsfhs.org.uk research centre in Partick this afternoon. And the joy of traffic on the way home is getting to appreciate the wonderful #GhostSigns that are popping up everywhere. How is everyone?

I was in at Glasgow City Archives this morning so popped over to the SP service. Was very lucky & happy to get a cancellation for this Monday (4 leaf clover find??!) as the ongoing trouble with Kilmarnock has played havoc with my client work for several months.
My first ever cats when I was 21 were 2 very MC alike moggy brothers. I’d never heard of the breed but after I did discover it I found the similar traits to MCs was uncanny. They were the sweetest, most adorable cats and the bond with them was so very different.
She is. Though she was runt of the litter & her mum rejected her so is a very small MC. I have 2 other cats. The boss of the 3 is a tiny girl who was a feral rescue plus I have another MC who is a beauty. And she knows it. She is a cat that should be an only. The Diva screams out of her.
Small dark grey cat who was born in the wild to a feral mother. At age 11 now likes to cosy up to her primary human. Large (ish) Maine Coon girl cat with massive attitude who allegedly is doing us all a favour and tolerating us.
Katja, my no 1 research buddy when I’m working from home. She really wants to be on my lap when I’m sitting at my desk, but I eventually persuade her the chair beside me is the place to be. #CatSpam

Thanks Rowena. I've lost the tiny slither of English that had been lurking previously, though both my parents still have there's.
I've known for a while I was doing well at Ulster counties ancestral bingo but also looking good now for Irish Provinces on latest Ancestry regions. Brand new for me is Hebrides & Highlands for the first time ever, which somehow makes feel like I'm a real Scot now. What's change for everyone else?

What a beautiful spot. A home in such an idyllic place, surrounded by a graveyard, especially one with family connections, would be rather wonderful. #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

That thing where you’re looking at parish maps in an actual book of The Phillimore Atlas & Index of Parish Registers… and try to use 2 fingers to zoom in on the area of interest. Ah well, I’ll take an actual pic then to zoom in on. 🙈😂

Looking forward to this.

I have a talk this Saturday with the Irish Genealogical Society International - Irish Migrations to Canada! It's a topic near and dear to my heart, given that all of my Irish ancestors who came to North America settled in Canada! If you're interested: www.irishgenealogical.org/eventListing...

As every family knows, life gets busy after the arrival of a newborn. Top tip from the mid 19th century - have your baby baptised before it's born! Not a straightforward transcription howler. Columns in original register not consistently used for birth or bap dates. #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

Hope you have a good trip Jane. If he ends up in Glasgow we’ll need some genie meet ups when you come to visit him.

A good example of why we should always view all available copies of a record. Here we have two versions of the same marriage record; on the left is the Bishops' Transcript, on the right the original from the parish register of All Saints, Wigan.

Check out the witnesses...
Lovely photo Jane, and lovely to see you there.
