Since the #bsky algorithm is fair, unlike twitter, and creating posts is no longer pointless, I'm the author of #GivingTuesday's #CivicIntent report - a way to measure that sense of "doing good" and "good intentions" that 4 out of 5 Americans feel:

Y'all know about their bar bet, where CS Lewis told Tolkien it was impossible to write a fantasy world without a named deity, to which Tolkien replied, "hold my beer!"

(Gandalf's return comes close: "I was sent back" -- yeh, by whom or by what force, exactly? From where?)
Tolkien was likely a humanist but didn't identify that way. Lewis has a whole book about getting to Christianity from starting as a humanist.
Instead of inane scrolling of posts that are not information-rich, why not read about this creepy dude now called Andrew something Windsor and why he's clearly not worthy of any titles

#MTG #Arena powered cube - surprising 17lands data for vintage: No green or black cards at the top. And red+white cards dominate.

Would you have guessed that Ajani and Pyrogoyf are equivalent in power to Ancestral Recall and Time Walk?
I've read LotR at least twice and never caught on to this purpose for Tom Bombadill! Thanks for sharing!
The most useful thing I've heard in the past week is that we're not suffering from information overload; we're starving in an information desert.

All around us is noise but not answers, learning, and real perspective on our world, unfiltered.

Welch: "This has nothing to do with the shutdown. The law requires and the funds are available to continue SNAP right now without any interruption. So that is a decision the president is making on his own to allow people to go hungry."
When AI-day-trading-bots start trading on the future of #AI, that will create an interesting positive feedback loop.

But surely no fintech bros would trust #AI to do that with their money right?
MicroSoft owns 49% of openAI, right? so there's your reality problem
I keep divesting. The DOW could reach 10-billion in imagined future wealth and still crash to zero in day.

It is not propped up by companies so much as it is the media-disinformation machine that works for politics in a similar way.

I think that inflation reality will bring it down.
Interesting to look at the election voting result in Salt Lake City and wonder if liberals and conservatives are this segregated within the same city in most places.
In every game I won, it was Esika's Chariot or Oko doing all the work.
For my first ever Magic:TheGathering vintage cube (#MTGA Arena Powered Cube) I drafted this very pedestrian Sultai ramp deck. And went 6-3!
(thrilled considering this format is dauntingly complex)
In the 1990s, Steve Case started moving his AOL bubble stock into other hard assets, namely Acquiring TimeWarner.

Maybe Nokia is like that?
@lsv.bsky.social fully defended this. It is in many paper Vintage cubes, so it gets in, despite feeling very much like arena.

The original "craft" mechanic.
The most inside joke (inside another joke) ever
That 2 civil servants could start the day reviewing the funnies in 1982 and brag about it is the most quaint thing ever.
If we re-ordered the sustainable development goals #SDGs by the number of organizations that actually worked on these goals over the years, it would look like this.

Education and Health get the most attention.
Climate and Oceans get the least.
Around the world, people on the Left are more likely to feel a stronger tie to those around the world, and people on the Right are more likely to feel a strong kinship to those in their own country.

there are other ways to be involved. some zoom-meetups. I built a bot version @nano2love you can use.

No #AI will meddle in your writing.
The national total monthly SNAP program costs $7.8B to feed 42M people.
Or.. headline could read 65% of Hispanic Republicans in Texas STILL love Trump. That's baffling.

All his rhetoric targets them. But maybe they don't hear what they don't want to hear. We all do that, too often.
When I was I the tenth grade, we heard
"Some pf those who work forces, are the same that burn crosses"
I absolutely LOVE this political srt by Elise khong, by a 10th grader at the local school for the arts in my neighborhood. #Ice
