I don’t want to dunk on this, and I’m not, but I think this is actually a much bigger psychological issue than just AI and it’s one our culture (by which I mean American in particular, modern Western in general) has been very bad at addressing
I don’t think this is a narcissistic injury, but it is an egoistic injury. And it hurts a lot! If a computer can do everything I can do, what makes me valuable? This is a difficult question to answer
