Pocket Monsters ep.88 is probably the best-looking since Charizard vs. Magmar thanks to its frequently great layouts that set fluid poses against angular planes. It's an action-heavy episode with a tight script that moves at a brisk pace.

I just finished rereading the succession war arc of Hunter x Hunter. It is incredible just how good this arc is once you read it slowly and carefully over long batches of multiple chapters rather than in bite-sized pieces over a few weeks spread across multiple years

Episode 61 of Pokemon is definitely the closest that the original series has to a sakuga fight. Charizard and Magmar's more humanoid forms allow them to have a more physical battle unseen in the rest of the series, with a visible increase in shadows, highlights, and dynamic composition. it rules

This year I did something I should have done long ago and watched Haikyuu. Just caught up with the anime today with the Dumpster Battle, the absolute finest match in the whole series so far. It was truly beautiful and made me cry
