Yes! That’s a good point & thanks for the links. Long read technology is driving a new wave of discovery for genetic mutations. Any software like this requires an incredible amount of energy, innovation and precision in the backend
If your criteria is coding output, there are loads in the comp bio space. the folks who wrote scvi, pseudotime, kallisto, alevin fry, loompy…, alpha fold..

A new paper I worked on is out in Justice Quarterly! I won't speak on the substantive nature of the paper as I worked solely as the methodologist, but I developed a new matching method not otherwise described in the literature, and I want to tell you about it!

In 1950, Alan Turing - while at @manchester.ac.uk - proposed a simple but profound experiment: can a machine convincingly imitate human thought?

We now call it the Turing Test. 🧠💻

Oh that’s interesting. Sorry to interrupt the thread, that’s amazing software btw!
Alan Turing wrote a paper on imprecision of matrix inversion is this related?
You can sometimes request more time to review a manuscript
Wouldn’t version control be more informative?
Agree with this point. In my former post, I came across a published paper linking to a data repository link that was broken. I emailed the site hosting the data to explain that the data was not available. My issue was opened for a month and never (to my knowledge) resolved.
Does the term “layoff” accurately describe the end of postdoctoral funding when a postdoc is often a period of research that a scientist chooses to undertake?

On this week, 40 years ago, my friend Ralph Isberg, then a postdoc with Stan Falkow, reported the discovery of the 1st invasin gene in @nature.com "We report here the identification of a single genetic locus from this organism (Y. pseudotuberculosis) that is sufficient to convert the innocuous
I found this article for some light weekend reading. Healthcare premises cost guides - outdated but interesting nonetheless

Next time when buying a flag (~£5) Why not recycle cardboard, make your own & donate the cost?
