The Senate has officially confirmed RFK Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

As @davidcorn.bsky.social wrote last month, this is the appointment that "could be the most dangerous act of Trump’s presidency."

The depth of his extremism has not been fully conveyed to the public.

For Americans looking to flee: One fun thing that I realized during my trip to India last year is that nearly 100% of their population speaks English, with stunning fluency. Air quality can be horrifying around Delhi in the winter, but not so bad in the rest of the country.

This is a huge red flag for a crucial, non-political federal agency.

Unlike NHTSA, NTSB has pulled no punches asserting that Tesla Autopilot is dangerously designed. Musk once hung up on the NTSB Chair: arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...
The NTSB says it will no longer email news outlets or reporters with notifications of upcoming press conferences, including those on plane crashes in Washington and Philadelphia.

Instead, all notifications will be made on X.

We're filing a FOIA to find out more about the change in policy.

NEW: Sources tell my office that Treasury Secretary Bessent has granted DOGE *full* access to this system. Social Security and Medicare benefits, grants, payments to government contractors, including those that compete directly with Musk's own companies. All of it.

Just read the response from Costco to shareholders requesting it back down from DEI. It was glorious. It begins "Our Board has considered this proposal and believes … an enterprise rooted in respect and inclusion is appropriate and necessary." and gets better. A happy investor #diversityandinclusion

To be fair, the Dallas Express did notice. Their original reporting broke this story.
This is an incredible testament to the loss of local news coverage. A congresswoman disappeared for six months and no one noticed.
A U.S. Congresswoman disappeared for the last six months of her term. Nobody noticed.

Turns out she's in a memory care unit, & her staff (and apparently other people?) covered it up (though she was somehow propped up for an event a month ago?)

Given that they lost the White House, the Senate, AND failed to recapture the House, you could reasonably think the Democrats would try a different strategy than their usual gerontocratic approach. And when AOC launched a bid for a key congressional post, it looked like there was a chance.

Nope.
Gerry Connolly beats AOC in race for key Democratic congressional post
So much for generational change.
