why it's almost as if Bari Weiss was specifically hired by a right wing billionaire to turn CBS into a right wing propaganda mill
NEW from me:
In recent weeks, Bari Weiss has been complaining that CBS News' Standards and Practices unit has "too much power," stoking fears in the newsroom that she's going to try to disband the team.

Dan knows more about how Congress works than anyone I know, so this is an interesting thread.
Some thoughts on the CR/minibus.
1 The Dems negotiating with Rs were not freelancing. They coordinated with Sen Schumer. A few were ready to give in on day one, others worked to maximize appropriations wins.
Those voting for the 'deal' are the ones furthest away from electoral consequences.

What issue have Dems "held the line" on in any meaningful way? Genuinely I can't think of one.
Withholding a vote in a presidential election over your key issue does not help your key issue gain traction *after* that election
BUT
Demanding that your current senators hold the line on your key issue *before* they're up for election can help your issue
It's not that hard to get, right?

Pure gutter racism
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

"The mystery is why Schumer keeps flirting with capitulation in exchange for nothing." @schumer.senate.gov
SCOOP: Schumer was more involved than reported with the attempted cave on the government shutdown. The Gang of 8 Senate Dems had his approval & he was getting daily updates.
In Thursday's caucus meeting, the Gang claimed they had 10 votes to cave. The caucus went nuts, leading to the new proposal.

Just got back from my niece's wedding where in the middle of a very quiet part a groomsman passed out, cracked his head very loudly (he's fine,) and split his pants wide open. Poor kid is going to have to find a new friend group because he will never hear the end of that.
