So, back in 2018, I did a comic to retell a horror one-shot rpg session I hosted the year before. Page after page, I put more effort in it and decided to make it a project for a college exam. It was one of my first semi-professional comics.

In the background, a few houses can be seen. A picture of five rhombuses arranged in a cross, drawn in the dirt. The page says "Chapter One - Gathering". Two strangers travel into a ghost town riding horses. One goes inside a saloon, dropping a few gold coins on the counter, asking for water. The man comes outside, telling the other, a swordsman with a large hat, that there's no water. The two discuss the shortage of water brought by the drought. The swordsman mentions the local priest of Chton, a man he'd trust "with his own life". As they approach the temple, they see a drunkard lying on the ground, half-wasted: an old penitent farmhand that sometimes helps the priest.

War Mage

But, place such a practitioner amongst the horrors of war, and not in the vain position of a commander, nor in the comfort of a ritualist but in the boots of a common soldier. Then watch their vanity wash away by a life in trenches, packed against dirt and corpses like a dead man in a coffin. Watch their shield of pride crumble as their spellwards against blades and arrows do nothing against the attrition of conflict. Watch their hunger for power die as their destructive spells do nothing against the arrows and blades that fell their comrades in droves. Then gaze upon the work of a practitioner void of the purpose that granted them power. Gaze upon the violence only humans can wrack but devoid of the love and passion, of the resentment and hate, of the righteous fury and deserved vengeance, of the vicious greed and the hunger for power that should guide it. Gaze upon the insatiable hunger of a beast that cannot be fed. It is an abomination. It is a war mage."

So, I went to a Perturbator concert.
-the opening act by Kaelan Mikla was pretty gud
-My friends picked up the plectrum from Perturbator!
-I lost my voice raising one chorus too many
-I made a couple new friends moshing
-Still didn't make out with any goth baddies :c
