We don’t wish to inconvenience anyone, but our shelter currently houses 18 individuals, and our electricity bill has surged to an unaffordable level. I'm genuinely at a loss regarding how we'll manage to keep the electricity flowing.

Distro update: Lincoln Community Care!

LCC had the sunniest and warmest distro in a while yesterday, and that brought out friends and neighbors on both sides of the distro line. We welcomed some new faces! We distributed food, hygiene, blankets, warm layers, and shoes to 50+ neighbors!

Distro update: Everett Free Grocery Program!

It was the sunniest distro in a while, and the community turned out! Unfortunately, our usual food suppliers fell through, so it was our community pool that got food on the tables this week.

A meeting about community care and direct aid followed distro!

Today, we're introducing Lincoln Community Care, a weekly mutual aid distribution in solidarity with neighbors on the streets, now in its fourth year!
Introducing Lincoln Community Care! We are a mutual aid collective standing in solidarity with our unhoused neighbors in North and West Lincoln. We are horizontally organized, abolitionist, and rooted in solidarity: Angry at the systematic causes of poverty, not the symptoms. Primarily, Lincoln Community Care organizes a weekly distribution of items vital to people living on the streets or in temporary shelters. More broadly, we are focused on building power through mutual aid. Unlike many NGOs, we recognize that to see an end to the problems poor people face society needs to be radically reinvented. Distro update - Everett Free Grocery Program
Everett Free Grocery Program had one of our coldest distributions of the year last Sunday! We had a difficult time with fresh food this week, but shelf-stable and preserved items came through. We served vegetarian fried rice in a grab and go style and spoke with neighbors about community issues. Despite the cold, people turned out to be in solidarity and community with one another. Welcome to our new mutual aid account!! Today we're highlighting our first mutual aid group, Everett Free Grocery Program. On its fifth year of weekly grocery and hygiene distribution, it's grown to over 20 in solidarity with 60-80 of our neighbors. Check it out!
Just five neighborhood friends started Everett Free Grocery Program in 2020 in response to the pandemic, evictions, and utilities shutoffs, rallying the community in the face of these and other government failures. As of 2025, our distribution has grown to over 20 regular friends and neighbors to provide food, hygiene, harm reduction supplies, and support to approximately 60-80 neighbors every week. We build political understanding through discussing shared struggles, through reading and research, and through know your rights trainings. A part of LNK mutual aid EFGP yearbook showing growing distro pics and other activities through the years. And a dog Our goal is to be driven by our neighbors' needs. As we have gotten to know our neighbors, some have come to us with requests for help with medication, safer transport, and rent. After initially pooling within the group the need arose to dedicate a direct aid fund. The direct aid fund goals: -Limit death, illness, and injury -Limit police contact -Limit strain caused by displacement through temporary shelter -Be driven by our neighbors' needs Together, our community has helped neighbors with: medication, safer tires, car insurance, temporary shelter, infant formula Do you like our whole deal?
