I've been trying to give myself space to grieve for and heal from the last year of my life and also trying to recognize the bright spots opening up in the skies. Tonight's dinner was a very bright spot.

To every trans/enby/gender fluid person sitting in a situation, familial or social where you have to reign yourself in where you are not being seen, please know that I see you and you're beautiful.

This year is already looking up because my mom reunited me with my childhood Agatha Christie collection

I really appreciate how many votes there are for Buckaroo Banzai against the world crime League. One of those cults I was inducted into as a child and I'm still delighted to see how big the cult is.
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

Live action Gargoyles dream casting is such a constant for me but I've never thought about who would direct

Yeah, 3 within a few months would get me to put it on the shelf.
Three preorders and I'd bring in a good sized stack.
I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Successfully remembered with 18-20 grocery shopping hours to go that the beef Wellington recipe I used last year was from my sister's edition of Joy of Cooking and I have the photos she sent me!

No really, on my 44th birthday a nuisance lawsuit was filed against my business that I spent more than half of 2025 dealing with. Then a little over a month later I fell for a con artist to the tune of low 5 figures that left me with a destroyed floor and holes in a wall and a soffit.
The only good thing about my 44th time around the sun is that it's now almost 24 hours behind me. Fuck that year.

In the world according to Charlie Brown, we are all terminal cases.
Do you expect me to talk?

No, Charlie Brown, I expect you to die!
I have been and always shall be your friend, Charlie Brown.

This does not pass the divide by 2 and add 7 rule of dating age range. Her max is a 24 yr old right now
These two could try again in 3 years and see if anything is different.

Suddenly remembering one of the weirder birthday parties I went to as a kid, going to see Oliver Stone's JFK in the theatre with a group of other 6th graders.
JFK was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald, acting alone.
My first political memory - exactly 62 years ago right now, a 4-year-old boy trying to understand his mom's tears - is still the biggest event in my lifetime. We still (IMO) don't *really* know who killed JFK, but we know the public's trust was shattered. It's a straight line to today's mess

Please everyone who has trouble with this line of thought read @theradr.bsky.social's excellent book On Repentance and Repair.
Forgiveness is overrated.

People are trying very hard to shift what that word actually means.

No one has to ever forgive anything. No one is entitled to be forgiven.

You cannot forgive wrongs not done unto you.

Forgiveness is not for the wrongdoer, but for the wronged.

I spent a few years reading bad books by worse people to save you the pain.

Having read the first page of the Nuzzi excerpt

Under medical advice I cannot get drunk enough to make reading that worth it and I suggest you don't try either unless you really thought Twilight was intensely good prose.

I'd honestly forgotten that's why the space became available on the first place!
In April 2020, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social gave his empty pandemic campaign office on Steinway to my friend Macaela as a home for her new Astoria Food Pantry. Five 1/2 years later, the pantry is still a vital source for mutual aid, and Mamdani is going to be Mayor! www.astoriafoodpantry.com
