Asian parents meant I thought there were only three choices in life: medicine, engineering, or law. Turns out I liked one of those, but only in a very specific context that had me deliberately failing economics exams so I could transfer to a law/arts stream.
What’s the lore behind choosing your career path ?

If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.

Read this very carefully. A man who emigrated to the US as a child, as a WWII refugee, has been taken by ICE for being in the country "illegally."

In no world, never mind in a country that claims to support the rights of individuals, should that sort of thing happen.

Me in Nov 2024: "A symphonic concert of Wagner's Siegfried next year? Sounds great, count me in!"

Me in Nov 2025 one week before the concert: "I have a symphony ticket this weekend? EXCITING but also, how long is it-- oh shit I signed up for a WAGNER RING OPERA😱😯😅"

Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

Librarians told 404 Media they're being inundated with new pitches for AI library tech and catalogs are being flooded with AI slop books.

But more broadly, AI maximalism across society is supercharging the ideological war on libraries, schools, government workers, and academics.

I don’t think we collectively hate Google as much as we all should. This company is directly responsible for countless layoffs across the journalistic profession this year, and in exchange, it is a less reliable service than it was just one year ago. All in service of a technology widely loathed.
I hate this AI garbage so, so much. This "answer" isn't even self-consistent, much less correct! Maybe the three weeks of non-stop work over the 2007 holidays with not enough sleep caused me to hallucinate the whole thing.
