Check in with any federal government workers you know. We are not okay.
The fact that yesterday’s NYT Strings puzzle included every generation of the last 100 years but left out Generation X is just about the most GenX thing ever. #GenX
I have an agent! In @tajmccoy.bsky.social, I am lucky to have found the right champion for PASSION AND PROTOCOL, my #CR about a scandal-plagued diplomat and a reclusive ex-con who find lust, loathing, love (and the odd phallic clam) on the Oregon Coast.

I’m a die-hard pantser, and am used to my characters just telling me what to do. But now, 40,000 words into my current WIP, it’s like my characters have stopped speaking to me. I’ve hit a wall. Am I going to have to actually PLOT the rest of his novel? Help! #writingcommunity #booksky #romancelandia
Just donated as well. Extraordinary man.
This is why they will need to pry the Oxford comma from my cold, dead, and lifeless hands.
Punctuation matters. Way more than you think. Bad punctuation can be devastating.

Don't believe me?

Alright, then gather around, children, because I'm going to tell you a short true story about how not understanding ONE punctuation mark once cost a company millions of dollars in a lawsuit.
Cozy with my Sweetie on Christmas Eve, watching the 70’s-era stop-motion “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” The Burgermeister Meister Burger remains one of my favorite Christmas villains.
True story: When I first moved to Germany for work, I was really lonely. Finally, I put up a sign at a pub for an “English Stammtisch.” A young man saw the sign, and brought a few friends and our Stammtisch was born. 25 years later that young man who joined my stammtisch is now my husband.
Happy Winter Solstice!! Made my homesick German sweetie bratwurst and bratkartoffeln in honor of Yule. I wish we had a fireplace, but we’re warm and cozy and drinking hot Gluehwein. It smells like Christmas!

This is a nonstop struggle for me. I LOVE my little romance novel, but pitching it in a sentence or two? So. Hard. #writingcommunity
Writing Tip:
Your submission might be great, but if the person you're submitting it to isn't wowed by your pitch they might not even read it. Mastering your elevator pitch (pitching the plot of your story in a sentence or two) is an important tool for success.

I already do this (minus the audio book, as I’ve never gotten into them).
I recommend no fewer than 4 copies of any beloved book. A paperback for traveling and lending to friends, an eBook for reading with greasy snack fingers, an audio book so you know how the characters' names are actually pronounced, and a pristine hardcover to be buried with you like a pharaoh
Same. I adore “Silent Night”…although (rather pretentiously I admit) I prefer it in the original German.
I'm not religious but damn do I love a christian carol. "O Holy Night"? It is if someone's singing that song. "Fall on your knees" ??!! Already down here, buddy. You've knocked me out
So excited! After working 80-hour weeks for seven months straight (including almost every weekend), I am treating myself to a full week writing staycation over New Years. I’m positively giddy to finally make some progress on my long-neglected WIP. #romancelandia #writingcommunity

OMG. Yes. All of this.
Being a writer with serious anxiety is so hard. Every good email could be followed by a bad one. Every day could be a day that my life changes forever. Every bit of progress I make could pale to the horrible, unseeing machinations of an uncaring universe.

But still I persist!!!
This.
I refuse to let the incoming President be the main character in my day-to-day life. 2016-2020 was exhausting for many reasons, but chiefly b/c of him. I oppose everything he’ll try to do. I’ll do all I can to advocate for the vulnerable communities he’ll target. But I won’t give his ego oxygen.
Ok. I giggled.
Omg I just dropped a copy of the book Oliver Twist on my foot.

Hurts like the Dickens
As a GenX kid from the Pacific Northwest, the Nirvana Unplugged concert was a seminal moment of my musical awakening. I have listened to that album so many times, I can recite verbatim Kurt Cobain’s mumbled commentary between each track.
Today in 1993: Nirvana’s iconic “Unplugged” concert airs on MTV.

“.. In the moment, you weren’t aware you were taping what was Nirvana's last album," producer Alex Coletti said later. "It was only in hindsight that it became what it became."

My introverting soul feels seen.
Wife: So you went to the party all by yourself?
Me: Yes
Wife: And you stayed three whole hours?
Me: Yes
Wife: Even though I wasn’t there to make you stay?
Me: Yes
Wife: And now you don’t want to talk to other people until?
Me: March-ish
