"Lean into—not away from—empathy. Recognize that we are in serious need of each other’s support. Understand that if some are vulnerable, we are all vulnerable. Show up not just for your own groups, but for every group that you can…"

“Tom was super excited to become a U.S. resident, so much so that he had insisted on a cowboy-themed wedding.” But then the German robotic engineer was arrested for a visa overstay based on a policy he had no way of knowing existed. Completely Kafkaesque. "We feel like we were tricked.”

Wake up. Parent. Eat. Dishes. Remember the horrors. Anger. Decorate for the holidays. Paw Patrol. Pet actual dogs. Eat. Laundry. Shower. Gather moral courage. Kiddo bedtime. Revenge bedtime procrastination. Lights out. Oh, right, horrors. Sorrow. Fury. Look up how to resist next. “Sleep.” Repeat.

I’ve submitted a lot of poetry to different publications in the past couple weeks, after having not submitted for a year while I worked on writing and dealt with life stuff.

I kind of feel like I’m in a weird limbo state. Like I sort of exist as a writer, and sort of don’t.

Instead of doing a consumerism on "Black" Friday, consider supporting small businesses, dropping a few coins in someone's ko-fi or go fund me, sign up for their patreon instead.

Life is expensive, things are hard. Drop coins to humans, not AI, or big corporations today.

Seeing images of that devastating fire engulfing multiple residential buildings in Hong Kong...

This is the one time I WISH the images and footage were all AI, because it is so absolutely horrific I wish it wasn't real.

I had to dig through all of my doom piles looking for my car keys today. I thought I had looked everywhere, and finally gave up, announcing to no one in particular, “UGH, I GUESS THEY’RE GONE FOREVER.”

And then it occurred to me to check the pocket of the coat hanging neatly in my closet.

I am horrified, and my heart is breaking for the untold number of people caught in this fire.

One of the most important and accessible things we can do in the face of ruthless cruelty is to bear witness.
ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

I feel like so much of politics has turned into “well, if you give a mouse a cookie…” politics, without interrogating the fact that we actually deserve food and a warm, comfortable place to sleep and free hours in the day.

New York will always be a city of immigrants. When we protect the communities who keep this city running and uphold our sanctuary laws, we create a future that’s safer for every New Yorker.

Would love to be able to go a day without being made to feel disgust by the actions of people in power.

I’m getting a handle on the anxiety. I’m over being shocked. I’ve got more space everyday for the feelings that give life purpose. But the disgust, ugh, the disgust is just always there.

Most of us have no idea how bad it is inside ICE detention centers because they have kept it hidden. Then a truth teller shows up and says it plain.

The conditions are filthy. The treatment is inhumane. The abuse is Systematic and routine.

@govpritzker.illinois.gov I want you to watch this video of me slammed to the ground- why are you allowing this to happen to people you know are on the right side of history. They tied my hands behind my back and when I asked them to be loosened because I was going numb they said, “STFU.”
at one point, i watched a cook county sheriff’s officer (who appears to be in charge) point out a priest in the crowd.

he and a couple officers then went into the crowd , dragged him into the street, and arrested him.

situation is still tense as crowd jostles with police to get into the street.
