Athletic director. Spent 5 years as a Division I 🏀 staffer + 7 years as a HS coach. Personal account.

You'll get random thoughts about sports, music, and whatever else seems interesting at the moment.
The year is 2085.

All that still stands in Oxford, Miss. is the Library Sports Bar.

Weary travelers stop in for a few Bud Lights.

All that hangs from the walls is a tattered and torn Trinidad & Tobago flag and a faded sticker of the words “Hoe Miss.”

The travelers won’t know. But we will.

It sure feels like Kiffin views the LSU job as one of the 4-5 best in the entire sport and wants that challenge.

On the other hand, he *really* doesn’t want to leave his current players and/or CFP shot.

Either way, Ole Miss has handled this well, IMO.

I respect the Territorial Cup, because those two schools' stadiums are just about the only ones I can recall that didn't have a random gate propped wide open when I visited.

The Egg Bowl turning into a ho-hum game has been great for anyone that was around for what Dan Mullen and Hugh Freeze did to that rivalry.

Ole Miss' Ilias Kamardine is a 22-year old freshman, which is ridiculous on its own, but even more so when you realize one of his teammates last season in France was Gavin Ware.

Yes, the Gavin Ware that played at Mississippi State from 2012-2016.
Gotta be honest, I think my two biggest issues with college basketball in 2025 are the automatic transfer waiver and overseas pros (or G-Leaguers) being allowed immediate eligibility.

I don't know if it's possible for Rick Barnes to be underrated at this point in his career, but it feels like he still is even though he's done everything short of winning a national championship.

I think I count 8 unique ads on the floor at this Players Era Championship game, in case you were wondering how the event was able to pay schools to participate.

Not that my take matters, but it’s Bsky, so…

I think Ole Miss should hold fast on the Kiffin “deadline.”

To not do so would be tacit admission that you don’t think you can win w/o him as your head coach.

What a comeback. What a road trip.
This has still been an incredibly impressive road trip from the Hawks.

Pretty much ran out of gas tonight.

UNLV has home losses to UT-Martin and Montana already this season.

They're up by 15 with 14 minutes to play at Memphis.

Man, what? Incredibly sad news.
RIP Todd Snider. One of the greats, an unheralded songwriters' songwriter and a genuine character. Loved and proselytized for almost as long as I've been a music critic. A guy not only influenced by Prine/Kristofferson/Jerry Jeff but he seemed to come out of the same world.

I posted this at the beginning of his hot streak in Los Angeles.

Little did I know...
I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen Vit Krejci hit consecutive jumpers.

It's still kind of amazing that you're allowed to sign dudes to come over from some of the best pro leagues in the world.

Purdue's Omer Mayer was an 18-year old playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv last year. One of his teammates was former Alabama guard Levi Randolph.

Levi Randolph is 33 years old.

I think the lost element in the Kiffin-Ole Miss-Florida thing is that Ole Miss would be the only school entering the market coming off a (likely) CFP berth.

As always: If you're terrified of a coach leaving, it means you don't have faith in your leaders to hire another one.

They’ve done it again.
Listen, the Hawks are better with Trae Young but, like, it’s odd how many games they win without him.

I can't recommend Netflix's "Death by Lightning" enough.

It's the best historical drama I've watched in...well, a long time.

Great acting and great exposure to a president and time that most have forgotten.
