If Henri Matisse had to reveal his art like a game show assistant, do you think he would have resorted to wearing a sparkly dress too? Anyway, you can see this sketch as part of the 2025 Bemis Benefit Art Auction.

This makes a lot of sense. (I’ve been including Doritos in my artwork for years, and now I feel validated.)

Many thanks to @cornwarning.com for not only sharing my art, but writing a fantastic summary of work!

@klairelockheart.bsky.social paints hyper-realist depictions of men she calls "Brodalisque." She lovingly parodies schmaltzy 19th Century paintings. She treats Bros as comedic subjects, but not in ridicule, sympathetic with the modern Lost Boys, good guys, only partially adult, touchingly awkward.

When I made the portraits in the Feminine Attempts series, I painted the models as tall as they were in real life. So, the canvases are 6-7 feet tall. One of my first exhibitions was in a small gallery, and during the reception I saw many people enter the space, look around, and slowly back out!

Wow! Your description of my work truly made my day; you have no idea how happy it makes me that you "get" what I'm creating. Thank you so much!

Ew. Award ceremonies tend to be long and tedious enough. This sounds horrible to sit through.

Thanks a million! Happy Friday!

Awww! Thank you so much for sharing! (I didn’t know you had an account over here, but I’m happy to see you!)

You'd be surprised how handy having a sparky gown is! Ha, ha!

Many thanks! (I honestly don't recall what Atari it was because I borrowed it.)

I like that idea! If I ever run an auction, I want to give that a try.

Ha, ha! Thank you! It's not a very practical way to dress, but it is fun.

Most of my clothes are exactly how you described in the first sentence. The sparkly dress is just for laughs!

In all my research about Renaissance art, I never came across that fact - ha, ha!

Do serious artists flip around their paintings like game show assistants? Regardless, this little guy is part of the 2025 Bemis Benefit Art Auction. Save the date for October 24th in Omaha, NE
