It’s been two months since I wrote about AI which, as someone who detests having to write about AI, feels like not much time at all.

On fake books, cash traps and magic beans, and why I continue to hate every vapid tentacle AI thrusts in our direction.

Séamas O'Reilly: We have elevated AI that almost never works as well as what it replaces
I could write an article just like this one every single day, each filled with brand-new examples of AI’s constant enshittification of the media we consume

The smoked turkey on baguette sandwich from Al’s Deli, Evanston, IL.

The owners, two brothers, inherited the biz from their dad. One worked the register, the other made the sandwiches. Everything as fresh as can be, with grainy French Dijon and a cold smear of mayo. Perfection

I saw Rick Steves on the bullhorn leading a pretty large group of protesters in a small city outside of Seattle that consists mostly of rich people and retirees. Definitely not a place you usually see a protest!

Part 1 of my Catholic Hymn Tier List is up! I made mid and high tier available to paid subscribers as a treat for sticking with me through my Mexico hiatus, but the honorable mentions and low tiers are readable by all. Let us pray.

Well we learned something from this, our 572nd rocket explosion, said SpaceX spokesperson Farty McCrablice, it's when you have a floundering company run by a drugged-out shithead with virtually no oversight, things tend to explode.

They’re going to demolish the country and then they’re going to say that Biden did it and all of these Nazi maga dipshits who only want genocide and slavery to come back are going to pretend they believe it because that’s easier than facing the horrifyingly failed reality of themselves.

Adult Catholic converts:
I never could have predicted this, but the faintest and most distant alarm bells started going off in my head when they started marketing Star Wars’ Empire as an aesthetic choice. The bells got a little louder when Walter White became a hero - not an antihero and cautionary tale.

So one of the things that I think is lost on AI proponents is what I call the card catalog effect, a thing I shouldn’t call it because a lot of people probably have no experience with a card catalog.
the reason i exist is because the British colonial project tried to wipe out my great- and great-great-grandparents. When you start to truly understand and feel the pain of that, it wakes you up to the numbing, enervating lie of whiteness
