those of us laid off from Teen Vogue yesterday are now sharing our GoFundMe to help us cover our emergency expenses now that we've lost our incomes, as we get back on our feet.

We didn’t get new costumes for the dogs this year due to me dealing with a re-aggravated back injury, but I have managed to take a couple of new photos of them that I enjoy. Here are Piper and June, to make you smile. #SkyHounds #Greyhounds

Bummer. Just talked with my teacher candidates a little over a month ago about how it seemed Teen Vogue was still going strong.

I started class today by acknowledging the government shutdown and how earlier this week the governor defied voters and opted the state into the federal school voucher program. A teacher candidate looked at me and said, “Are we going to be okay?” #EduSky #AcademicSky

Piper and June relaxing before we went to the art fair today. They got a lot of attention and pets there, and the humans answered a lot of questions, which is typical in the day of the life of a #greyhound owner. #SkyHounds

Happy to see how well Taylor Townsend played singles in this tournament. Wish she could have kept going, but I hope she takes this momentum into future matches! #TennisSky #USOpen

Pausing work and reading about the fresh horrors of today to take and post some Piper photos. Just love her expressive little face. #Greyhound #SkyHounds

I realize broad science-literacy problems cannot generally be solved just by shoving more facts at people but I really wish more people understood that the entire purpose and mechanism of a vaccine is to educate your OWN immune system, making it about the most "natural" medical intervention possible

People living under fascism didn’t survive by giving up joy—they protected it.

They held onto the things fascism tried to erase: art, friendship, jokes, rituals, language, memory.

Not as escapism but as resistance. As proof they were still human.

Joy isn’t frivolous under fascism. It’s strategic.

Lettuce tastes great on your #July4 burger or salad. Harvesting it is an extremely difficult job because of the constant bending down and use of sharp tools. As we enjoy our holiday BBQs, let's remember the farm workers who make this meal possible. #WeFeedYou

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

After the graphic novel is realistic fiction. I posted about Everything We Never Had earlier this year, which is one of their options. The other option is A Catalog of Burnt Objects by Shana Youngdahl. 📚👍🏻 #YALit
Randy Ribay has done it again. Everything We Never Had is a heart achingly beautiful novel about four generations of Filipino and Filipino American men, all of whom have big dreams and intense emotions, though they don’t always align with each other. #YALit 📚👍🏻

Yesterday was our June girl’s 7th birthday! She tolerated the headband and enjoyed her pupcake. 😂 Piper was right in there at the end to make sure she finished every morsel of her birthday treat, even though Piper had her own treat. #SkyHounds #Greyhounds

ICE raids Poconos pizza shop.

"It's really hard to fathom that the guy making my pizza for 25 years is a gangster and a terrorist, and the person who shows up in an unmarked car wearing a mask and body armor comes to take him away is somehow the good guy."
