What do people think of this? www.theguardian.com/books/2025/m... Mixed metaphors, clunky self-awareness, too much playing in the ruins of the broken fourth wall. But much better than I had expected, expectations of being able to dismiss it as pedestrian were confounded. Still not convinced though.
